If Rodgers was unaware of the task he has undertaken before last night, he now has an insight into the mentality or lack thereof of this bunch of players. No amount of excuses can account for any Celtic side being humiliated by a team from Gibraltar.
I trust that Rodgers public interviews differ hugely from what was said behind closed doors. He should have stripped the paint from the changing room walls last night.
He has big decisions ahead of him. Ambrose, Bitton and Forrest should be sold forthwith. Brown should be stripped of the Captaincy and told he will be a squad player.
Successes last night were almost non existent , Ciftci surprisingly showing more heart and determination than most, and there was enough from Gordon, Svietchenko, Griffiths and Dembele to suggest they will survive any cull. Tierney, Rogic and Christie just had a bad game. It happens.
Rodgers needs his own men in and soon. Players who have leadership qualities first please. We are rudderless on the park, and he needs to address this quickly. The Board simply MUST back him with cold hard cash.
We should qualify next week, I'd say we will qualify, but last night exposed the frailties and gutlessness of many of our current first picks for the whole world to see. And how they must have enjoyed it.
Rodgers reputation took a battering last night. I hope he is hurting as much as we are.
I genuinely thought that he would at the very least get these players organised to perform better as a team. I didn't see the game last night but sounds as though they looked no different to the team that played under Deila. Yes, I know he has only been there a matter of weeks but I had expected better even with a bunch as limited as this lot: get them better organised and show some team spirit.

There are serious changes to be made and he has to make them. The faults are there for all to see (and have been for some time) as you have pointed out FB but if he doesn't take steps to address this situation then we are in bother.

I wouldn't trust this lot to get us through next week.
This matches what I expected. I hope for an awful lot more over the course of the season, but I expected in our first competitive game to see at least some green shoots of progress.

Not a thing. NOT ONE SINGLE THING has changed for the better since we last watched this shower of scheidt stumble around under Deila.

The honeymoon's over before the groom even got his kecks off. He'll not be getting a shot on the swings for a while if he doesn't clear out the unwanted wedding guests that are still hanging around.
Know we are angry but it was one off game. Albeit against as poor as opposition as we have played in years. Emabarrissing BUT - I'm genuinely shocked how he has alledgely watched our games last year and seen how gash we were and only bought one player so far? Kennedy (that he kept around) did not warn him and tell him who are the imposters and are at fault for our piss poor season last year and need to move on. Again what else is Kennedy there for?

Again 2/3 of the starting line up should be no where near that team last night.

That rotten board of ours now need to back him with £££ and the clout to get his own players (minus John park) and mould his own players and own style and own team. We will got through but it does not detract from BR's start was less than convincing. That was awful last night. He now has to clear out and move on best he can- which I'm sure he will with the right backing from above him. The guy is a good manager and again not deviating from the fact last night was an utter car crash which he contributed to as well - he now needs to get rid of most and get his own team in line and fast. Honeymoon is well and truly over after that result.

Why we have only signed one 19 year old in 6 weeks is seriously baffling when we need 5/6 first team players not squad players.

we have to hope he was raging but i have doubts. for too long this bunch of wasters have been protected by the manager saying total crap in public about how good we were and were unlucky or blaming something else. they don't deserve protection anymore. how much worse will they be if rodgers last night had come out and said the performance was an embarrassment and if players perform to such poor standards they will be gone . he would have gotten my respect if he had of done that as it is what most fans feel about this group of players for last 2 years
Deila came out and said the players were scared after Malmo and most said it was a bad move even if he was 100% spot on with what he said. It risked alienating the team and a lot of people though it was potentially a turning point after he came out so publicly.

Id have no problem with BR coming out and slaughtering the team, they deserve it but if he isn't doing it in public I hope he came down heavy on them in the dressing room

Very concerned by Rodgers' team selection and tactics last night. Hard to believe that he watched all last season's games and still put out pretty much the same team playing in the same deliberate and ineffectual way.

these chancers do not deserve the respect of not being criticized in public. as i said how much worse can they play. they knew delia was a sitting duck manager so could hide behind him for their own failings but rodgers will be supported by the board so they can't afford to do the crap they did with delia. he needs to say privately and/or publicly perform like that and you are gone .

We currently have threads about how ineffectual are Brown, Biton, Ambrose, Forrest and Johansen, all of which is fair. However BR is the incumbent who has to sort this out. Don't play any of them, openly transfer list players, at least we know that something is being done.

Forget what anyone has done in then past, they got paid for it. We have signed up as usual in vast numbers to support the team, we need some sign that change is afoot.

Rodgers should get a fair amount of criticism for player selection & the teams testicle free performance, just like any previous coach would

Early stages, but Rodgers could be a Delia MK 2.
It was his first competitive game as Celtic manager?

Certainly not going to judge him on one game. Absolutely will judge him on two - if he doesn't learn from that and sort the footballers from the shampooe he can feck off.

In his first game is charge I think he should be afforded some slack. We need time to improve, it isn't going to happen overnight. That doesn't mean that last night wasn't incredibly poor and embarrassing but the histrionics in this thread are way over the top.

I must admit, I've been concerned by the lack of signings thus far. More to the point, that there doesn't seem to be any urgency to address key areas (we all know where).

If Rodgers has watched footage from last season and been seeing these trumpets in training & thought we're good to go for this season, then we really do have a problem.

To hear him pass last night off....I can only hope that's not what he honestly thinks.

You only have to look at the huns with PLG & even us under Brady to know how easy it is for a manager to underestimate the job in hand.

I'm trying not to get carried away, but it's pretty much impossible to understate what happened last night.

Rodgers was absolutely entitled to think the current squad would get him results in the Q2 while he added players, after all they have done in the last 4 seasons, so I am not going to judge him too harshly on last night.

However next week is huge though, if Ambrose, Brown, Bitton & Forrest are in the team after last nights shambles then he should get pelters and I worry we are in for more of the same this year.
