Before the season starts... if Celtic play some good football, win the keague and do pretty much ANYTHING positive in Europe this season without buying 4 or 5 first team players then it will demonstrate several things I-

sometimes teams that look directionless and uninspired are simply poorly managed
some managers are sacked far later than they should be
a load of new managers' signings and warchests etc are an utter waste of money
Ronny Deila is an utter charlatan or an utter fool (I do not care which)
So what's the conclusion in the cold light of day?

If Rodgers was unaware of the task he has undertaken before last night, he now has an insight into the mentality or lack thereof of this bunch of players. No amount of excuses can account for any Celtic side being humiliated by a team from Gibraltar.
I trust that Rodgers public interviews differ hugely from what was said behind closed doors. He should have stripped the paint from the changing room walls last night.
He has big decisions ahead of him. Ambrose, Bitton and Forrest should be sold forthwith. Brown should be stripped of the Captaincy and told he will be a squad player.
Successes last night were almost non existent , Ciftci surprisingly showing more heart and determination than most, and there was enough from Gordon, Svietchenko, Griffiths and Dembele to suggest they will survive any cull. Tierney, Rogic and Christie just had a bad game. It happens.
Rodgers needs his own men in and soon. Players who have leadership qualities first please. We are rudderless on the park, and he needs to address this quickly. The Board simply MUST back him with cold hard cash.
We should qualify next week, I'd say we will qualify, but last night exposed the frailties and gutlessness of many of our current first picks for the whole world to see. And how they must have enjoyed it.
Rodgers reputation took a battering last night. I hope he is hurting as much as we are.
I genuinely thought that he would at the very least get these players organised to perform better as a team. I didn't see the game last night but sounds as though they looked no different to the team that played under Deila. Yes, I know he has only been there a matter of weeks but I had expected better even with a bunch as limited as this lot: get them better organised and show some team spirit.

There are serious changes to be made and he has to make them. The faults are there for all to see (and have been for some time) as you have pointed out FB but if he doesn't take steps to address this situation then we are in bother.

I wouldn't trust this lot to get us through next week.

100% correct. WTF does he do? He picks up a wage and I don't think anyone on here knows what he does day to day nor contributes. I don't see him out screaming at players nor any animation never mind motivating players. Genuinely don't know what he does apart from sit on a bench and hand the players there trackie top when they come off. Does he take training:? All indicators are he does not without me being at lennoxtown every day?

His role is a tad baffling for what he does as part of the management team? At least we knew Terry McDermott organised the bevy sessions

Why didn't Kennedy or anyone tell him Brown and Bitton failed as a partnership for a full season last year? Why didn't they say Forrest is cant play on the left? Why didn't they say Griffiths wide right has been tried and failed?

Whats the point in keeping these guys if they dont pass on the obvious?

This was always going to be a big job for Brendan Rodgers, the rebuilding job that is.

The players at his disposal are the players that were constantly getting pelters last season for under performing.
They were hardly going to resemble Barcelona because BR became our manager.

While BR may get it in the neck for his selection the players have got to take the majority of the blame (while on the park, the board need to look at who they have invested our money in and how long it took for them to format change).

BR is not a magician. He may be a good tactician (jury's out after last nights game) but he cannot magically transform mediocre players into world class players.
If they understand what BR wants on the park, they have to do it. If they can't they have to let BR know. Trying something different, something they are not used to cannot be done in a competitive match.

Also it doesn't matter how early in the season the game is, if these guys what to play for Celtic they should be busting a gut.
There is a difference with being at Celtic and playing for Celtic and too many are happy to be at Celtic and not playing to stay at Celtic.

It's all well and good posing in the new strip and having your face plastered over the stores and media but you have to work hard to continue to wear that strip.

This "lost the dressing room" crap pisses me off- the idea that we have to keep these precious souls happy and content
and the very slightest slight will see them down tools- eff that- Get rid of them all- that will improve dressing room morale.

I don't blame BR for what he said in public- He better be saying what needs to be said in private. Brown is the first big decision-

This matches what I expected. I hope for an awful lot more over the course of the season, but I expected in our first competitive game to see at least some green shoots of progress.

Not a thing. NOT ONE SINGLE THING has changed for the better since we last watched this shower of scheidt stumble around under Deila.

The honeymoon's over before the groom even got his kecks off. He'll not be getting a shot on the swings for a while if he doesn't clear out the unwanted wedding guests that are still hanging around.
