Should have gave your mate Lenny the job.
When people talk to Lennon, they don't don't to him because he's Lenny. It's because he's a friend of an accountant from an internet Celtic Supporters forum.

We wouldn't have lost that game at least.
Maybe not but we both know Rodgers time at the club will be judged on a lot more than 1 game. He's been in the job 3 weeks - things will improve significantly. Rodgers will learn a lot from tonight.
I should effing well hope that he learns from our worst ever result. That's not an exaggeration. Our worst ever result. If he can't learn from that what could he learn from? All our games he was meant to have watched? Well it doesn't seem he learned from them. Our insipid performances in pre season. Nah. He doesn't seem to have learned from those.

I'm no Neil Lennons pal and I'm mo a massive Lennon fan either but I fail to see how bringing him into the conversation solves anything

He deserves an absolute shoeing for tonight.
There is no doubting that he got it wrong, but he also has a squad of players who throughout last year showed an utter inability to play this type of fast, pressing football. Couple that with a pitch which only highlighted their inadequacies we ended up with an abysmal result. He has been in charge for less than a month. It is not unrealistic to believe that he, like all of us expected this group, poor though they are to negotiate this tie without the need of major reconstruction. I still think that this will come. This will come after we progress into the next round, which we will do quite comfortably.
What's the point in coming though this tie?

We've just been beaten by a team whose left back clocked off his taxi at 1pm today to play in the game tonight.

Does anyone seriously believe we'll fair any better against a team who actually earn their living playing football? A Legia Warsaw perhaps?

Going. Nowhere.

It's a troubling result, humiliating and not acceptable but I wouldn't go panic stations. This is a mistake far too far from Ambrose, he can't figure again. Janko looks frighteningly limited when he has no space to run into. Brown and Bitton far too pedestrian. We'll see what Rodgers is made of in how he reacts to this. As pointed out earlier, the Artmedia result was the catalyst for changes that would catapult us onto back to back CL 2nd round qualifications in subsequent seasons.

Strachan made some pretty big calls after Artmedia, bringing Boruc, Maloney, McManus etc into the side and he got a reaction in the return leg and league games that followed. I think Rodgers has to do similar next week. Would not be against McGregor, Ajer, Henderson and Roberts all coming in.

I know it's all very well with hindsight and it in no way makes that result any less embarrassing or humiliating, but he has learned more tonight in that defeat than a couple of lacklustre, pedestrian wins ever would have provided.

Hope he has the balls to do what's necessary on the back of it now.

Yes lets blame Rodgers... :brickwall: Peter Lawwell is the problem, stalling on signings and not looking at the best interests of the team.
Who picked the team tonight? Who played Griffiths on right wing? Who kept Roberts on bench? Who put Ciftci on?
There was an article in the papers kast week (I posted it on here) with Griffiths and he said that BR wants him to play on the right coming in, with Dembele up front.
Griffiths said he would pkay anywhere etc but it takes time to implement change, as we saw tonight.

So BR has set out his plan to the players, does he stick like Delia or does he revert back to our norm (Griffiths up front) to get us through next week?

Dembele alongside Griffiths with Roberts coming in from the right?
See in must-win games, like CL qualifiers, you play your best players in their best feckin' positions! If a player scores 40 goals from a central position, you don't put him wide right where he becomes effing anonymous! It's not rocket science.

We have been utterly humiliated this evening, but it doesn't mean that we give up entirely on European football this season. I am pretty sure that BR will have learned a lot this evening and changes will happen.

This was a pitch for pinning the team in and shooting from 25 yards.
This was a game for getting the ball into the box quickly and often.
We did neither.

Have you any confidence whatsoever we'd beat the professional team we would end up playing next?

I don't.

Humiliation beckons over the next 8 to 22 days.

Anyone who doubts that needs to seriously get to grips with the reality of our squad, suddenly jolted from even the fragile confidence and shaky formula of how even it managed to win games in the dying embers of a hapless reign. It's the same sorry lot trying to win games under a new manager, and I doubt there are enough answers coming in this initial period.

Maybe we'll recruit a Berget ahead of a game in Warsaw again. That'll make all the difference.
