The only difference between the SPFL games and Europe is the way we tend to set up. The standard of the teams we play in the qualifiers is certainly no better than our normal league competition, yet we go into Europe playing a cagey, fear-of-losing style with a lone striker up front practically on his own. No striker, not even a 40 goal scorer, is going to shine with that total lack of support. If we just played our normal game against the dross we meet in the qualifiers we would waltz into the group stages (which is how we used to do it not too long ago). Hopefully that's the way BR will approach it. We have been nervous wrecks in recent qualifiers. |

I tend to agree that he's a tad over-hyped. He obviously has some great skills and good goal sense, but does lose the ball a lot through his predictability, always tending to cut in on to his left side where defenders are usually lined up to stop him. But I think he will improve with us, especially under Rodgers, and he is the type that can be playing poorly but still produce a bit of magic that can win a game. |

Seen it all now. Roberts is our best player by a distance. Natural ability wise, hes our most gifted player since naka, just enjoy watching him whilst we can. |

Predictable Roberts who scored 7 in 12 games. Including 5 against the second d and third place teams in the League. We should get more unpredictable players out on the wing like Efe. Spend the whole day wondering ' can he control this ball? ' ' will he foul this guy?' . I wonder if people actually watch football on here. I really do. Edited by Flawless, 4 Jul 2016, 08:24 AM.

Exactly. 'Decent winger' is an understatement. A 19 year old who contributed a whole lot in the 2nd half of the season. If he can improve on that, we'll have some player on our hands. |

People are just bitter about his miss and the fact he isn't our player. I've seen people suggest Roberts shouldn't be playing for us this season because he'll be leaving and his place in the team would be better off given to Forrest It's the same as last season with Tierney. Everyone was going nuts over him and there were one or two calling him overrated and saying they couldn't see the fuss. Edited by McStay, 4 Jul 2016, 08:58 AM.

Absolutely. Without doubt the biggest talent at the club. Rodgers will develop him tactically and make him far too good for SPL. Edited by Norwegian plastic, 4 Jul 2016, 09:15 AM.

Don't have an issue with Roberts not being ours. 18 months is a good duration for a loan. If we'd signed him as an unknown we'd only be keeping him for 2 years anyway before he would get snapped up (like Vic, VVD). Fair enough we won't make any money after 18 months but he didn't cost us anything either. We've wasted plenty on 'prospects' who have been rubbish. |

I've said in a KT thread that his distribution needed improving, when I really meant that when under pressure in defensive positions he has an inclination to punt it that Izzy doesn't. I think that's the most critical thing I've ever read of Kieran Tierney on here. Apart from that post of mine, half the folk in the thread wanted him immediately named captain. I've never seen a single person say they can't see the fuss

Initially, I struggle to warm to him, for precisely the reasons you mentioned, as I thought the technical aspect of his game needed a bit too much work, but he's already improved markedly in this area, and I expect further improvement from him as he seems to have a brilliant attitude. I think this is one of the huge positives of Deila's reign. He was brave enough to put KT in despite being under pressure when a lot of managers would have went for the tried and tested despite form. All our recent managers were guilty of this including MON, WGS, Lennon and Deila at times when he used Commons after the media pressure and his strop. BR looks so much more self-assured. A guy who's born for this job and will wield the axe when needed, but also a guy who looks to develop the mentality of people. If our current crop can be stronger mentally, it will improve results so much as we won't buckle, the consequence is that we'll be a winning football team with winners throughout who can get the job done regardless of what they're up against. I'm so excited to get started. |

Roberts will score 15-20 goals next season if he stays fit. He is probably the most naturally gifted player at the club. There is no pleasing some folk. |

It could be argued that having a player on loan for a year is better than having one with a year left on his contract. Playing wise i mean , not financially obviously. Roberts certainly has seemed more committed and eager to make an impression than most of "our" players. |

Also if the big EPL teams see that we have improved a player who was on loan to us it's more likely we will benefit from more of their better prospects for longer loan periods in the future. Edited by Jakeybhoy2310, 4 Jul 2016, 10:48 PM.
