Fisher deserves a chance to establish himself as the backup, especially as Lustig seemed to be past his best last season.
Just what I was going to post. Much as I like Lustig, he doesn't look up to it any more, where as any time I've seen Fisher, admittedly mostly in friendlies, he's done very well. As a right back though- don't remember seeing him playing anywhere else.
You really think our 2 right backs for next season should be Janko and Fisher?

I predict a renaissance for Ambrose under Rodgers. A transformation into the killer pass playing trequartista KDS has pined for since we learnt the word trequartista.

The Guardian going with the story that England will try and sound out various people including Brendan Rodgers for the national job with Southgate overseeing the qualifiers and then the more permanent manager coming in afterwards.

Sounds like bull speculation to me. Other names mentioned are Wenger and Ranieri. FA supposedly willing to wait to get the right man.

If Rodgers (or any manager for that matter) were to walk out on a job after a couple of months without playing a game, to feck up the England job (which is inevitable whoever takes it on) the marketplace would not be kind to them. It won't happen.

Aye, but the article is insinuating it wouldn't be just now. It would be at least a year down the line. Maybe more.

They're willing to wait for their 1st choice to see out their club contract.

Was Rodgers not already sounded out about the England job and decided to come here instead? Was certainly the rumour.

Yeah, that was the rumour. It's probably the only reason his name is being brought back up.

No chance he would go anyway. 10 in a row will be too tempting in a couple of years time

Can't see the english FA going for a non-Englishman.
After looking at their english options, they will almost certainly go for a foreigner but probably one who has been around england. Blanc will be up there.

Lawwell's plot all along - land a windfall for Rodgers off the FA and have McNamara in place for the qualifiers.

BR will go nowhere near the England job.

Rodgers would fail with England as every England manager has since Sir Alf (who was a poor manager but that is incidental)

The job would only be taken by an old English buffer who will retire after the spin cycle like the last incumbent
or
a foreigner whose reputation was safe beyond UK shores... like Sven...
