I know it's a completely different kettle of fish at Celtic, but I was looking at Rogers signing record during his time at Liverpool. 33 players signed, for a total of £292,050,000

There really is a load of shampoo on that list. In some ways - maybe it's a good thing he won't have anywhere near that much money to waste at Celtic. His biggest challenge will be getting the most out of the players we currently have (contrary to some - I actually think we have the basis of a decent side. Just needs to offload some of the shampoo, and supplement the squad with a few important signings).

Brown invited to Brendan's home for dinner. Definitely think he's getting the dressing room leader onside.

The transfer committee were in charge at Liverpool - even if Rodgers didn't want a player they would sign him if the rest of the committee wanted him. Balotelli a classic example.

His transfer record at Swansea was very impressive.

Good interview. Really encouraging that he had his backroom team in place so swiftly and that they are working away as we speak. They seem to grasp both the potential and the expectations of the club and support and there's a sense that this is more than a stop gap appointment for them. You get the impression they sense that something very special is possible here.

Exciting times.

Do we have a transfer committee? Or did we at least, used to have a transfer committee?

I remember Harry Brady mentioning it on one of the Celtic Underground podcasts (talking about Lennon's time in charge). To be honest though - it didn't sound like a transfer committee. It was explained as a 3 man 'committee' of Lennon, Garry Parker and John Park. If any 2 of the 3 (including Lennon) agreed on a player - then Lawwell would be charged with getting that player.

The whole explanation seemed to fall down in that it specifically mentioned that Lennon had to be one of the 2 who agreed on a player. It could probably have been explained simply by saying Lennon had the right of veto over any signing. And I can't think of any occasion when Lennon assistant - Garry Parker - was likely to side against Lennon and with John Park over a player. Not that it would matter much anyway - as no signing would happen if Lennon didn't agree to it. Maybe I just picked up Harry's explanation of he process wrong - but, to me, it sounded about the least 'committee'-type committee I'd heard of :ponder:

Great to see the management team taking shape so soon. Was incredibly tedious and boring hearing about previous qualification failures explained away because of lack of preparation time for early season qualifiers. I mean, it's not as if they things are a effing shock! We pretty much know a full year in advance exactly when we'll be playing, the type of level of opposition we're likely to be playing, and how many times we'll need to play - so the "we didn't have enough time to prepare" excuse was running thin.

Like a lot that has happened in the past few weeks - either by choice or by finally being forced to face the reality of his disengaged the fans were becoming - the club seem to have upped their game a bit. That at least gives us a fighting chance of qualifying for the group stages this year. And, at the very least, removes a few more of the hurdles that we seem to put in our own path around this time each year.

I think the problem was they were working from a list compiled by someone else though. (Park and Lawwell possibly?)
So even when you got to 'choose' you were choosing one of theirs anyway.

He also brought in £200m. The most any Liverpool manager has ever generated.

It gets overlooked though as the press like to say he threw away 300.

Disclaimer - English prices are well known to be bonkers.

Yes, I just watched that and there is a steely determination about the task ahead and the hard work that he knows is required to achieve what he feels we are capable of. Exciting times ahead beyond our domestic dominance.

He comes across well in that, he's much more down to earth than I thought he would be, I always had the impression he was a bit of a David Brent type.

How come he's talking about schools, I thought his kids were grown up?
