Good interview. Really encouraging that he had his backroom team in place so swiftly and that they are working away as we speak. They seem to grasp both the potential and the expectations of the club and support and there's a sense that this is more than a stop gap appointment for them. You get the impression they sense that something very special is possible here.
Exciting times.

His transfer record at Swansea was very impressive. Do we have a transfer committee? Or did we at least, used to have a transfer committee?
I remember Harry Brady mentioning it on one of the Celtic Underground podcasts (talking about Lennon's time in charge). To be honest though - it didn't sound like a transfer committee. It was explained as a 3 man 'committee' of Lennon, Garry Parker and John Park. If any 2 of the 3 (including Lennon) agreed on a player - then Lawwell would be charged with getting that player.
The whole explanation seemed to fall down in that it specifically mentioned that Lennon had to be one of the 2 who agreed on a player. It could probably have been explained simply by saying Lennon had the right of veto over any signing. And I can't think of any occasion when Lennon assistant - Garry Parker - was likely to side against Lennon and with John Park over a player. Not that it would matter much anyway - as no signing would happen if Lennon didn't agree to it. Maybe I just picked up Harry's explanation of he process wrong - but, to me, it sounded about the least 'committee'-type committee I'd heard of

Great to see the management team taking shape so soon. Was incredibly tedious and boring hearing about previous qualification failures explained away because of lack of preparation time for early season qualifiers. I mean, it's not as if they things are a effing shock! We pretty much know a full year in advance exactly when we'll be playing, the type of level of opposition we're likely to be playing, and how many times we'll need to play - so the "we didn't have enough time to prepare" excuse was running thin.
Like a lot that has happened in the past few weeks - either by choice or by finally being forced to face the reality of his disengaged the fans were becoming - the club seem to have upped their game a bit. That at least gives us a fighting chance of qualifying for the group stages this year. And, at the very least, removes a few more of the hurdles that we seem to put in our own path around this time each year.

(Park and Lawwell possibly?) So even when you got to 'choose' you were choosing one of theirs anyway.

Brendinho's transfer dealings at Swansea evaluated.
Spoiler: click to toggle Brendan Rodgers' remarkable transfer dealings... from £11.6m at Swansea City to £279.9m at Liverpool FC BY SIMON GASKELL
Just how do his expensive dealings at Liverpool compare to his moves in the market while in charge of Swansea City?
Following the arrivals of Benteke, Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez, it means he has already spent £70m this summer with a tribunal still set to decide a fee for Danny Ings.
In three seasons and four close seasons as Reds boss, his total outlay is £279.9m although that is offset to some degree by departures like Luis Suarez to Barcelona (£70m) and Raheem Sterling to Manchester City £49m).
His record in the transfer market was questioned last season, with Alan Shearer contending that only one of his plethora of Liverpool signings - Philippe Coutinho - had been a success.
But just how do his dealings compare to his moves in the market while in charge of Swansea City between 2010 and 2012?
And how has he adapted from operating on a relative shoestring to having a vast war chest at his disposal?
Below we look back on every transfer Rodgers has presided over during his reigns at the Liberty and Anfield, analyse which players have been hits, which have been misses and how his recruitment has rated overall in South Wales and on Merseyside respectively...
Swansea 2010/11
Scott Sinclair (Eventual cost £1.5m from Chelsea)
Yves Ma-Kalambay (Out of contract)
Kemy Agustien (OOC)
Luke Moore (West Brom £750,000)
Leon Britton (Sheff Utd, £400,000)
Ryan Harley (Free)
Ryan Harley (0 apps) Promising midfielder Harley was signed by Brendan Rodgers in January 2011, but didn't play a Swans gamePromising midfielder Harley was signed by Brendan Rodgers in January 2011, but didn't play a Swans game
LOANS
Frank Nouble (West Ham)
Marvin Emnes (Boro)
David Edgar (Burnley)
Jermaine Easter (MK Dons)
Fabio Borini (Chelsea)
Tamas Priskin (Ipswich)
Spend: £2.65m
The signing of Sinclair - a man whose qualities Rodgers was aware of from his time working with him in Chelsea's youth team - was absolutely inspired.
He was the Swans' attacking spearhead, scoring 27 goals in all competitions including the hat-trick that sealed promotion in the 4-2 play-off final win over Reading. The loan for Fabio Borini proved astute business; he chipped in with six goals and won a penalty at Wembley.
Bringing Leon Britton back was just as pivotal with the diminutive midfield man crucial to the possession game Rodgers established.
Luke Moore and Kemy Agustien also contributed though Ryan Harley never played a game and reserve keeper Yves Ma-Kalamby left at the end of the season.
Mostly good business.
Transfer market rating: 8/10
Swansea 2011/12
Michel Vorm (£1.5m Utrecht)
Danny Graham (£3.5m Watford)
Wayne Routledge (£1.75m Newcastle)
Leroy Lita (£1.5m Boro)
Michel Vorm: The Dutchman was a major reason why Swansea established themselves in the Premier League after joining ahead of their first campaign in 2011Michel Vorm Fede Bessone (Free Leeds)
Jose Moeira (£100k Benfica)
Darnel Situ (£250k Lens)
Gerhard Tremmel (OOC)
Curtis Obeng (Wrexham £200k)
Rory Donnelly (Cliftonville £150k)
Vaneglis Moras (OOC)
LOANS
Steven Caulker (Spurs)
Josh McEachran (Chelsea)
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Hoffenheim)
Spend: £8.95m
Michel Vorm wasn't someone many people knew about when he arrived but he proved himself one of the Premier League's elite stoppers and an absolute steal for £1.5m.
Wayne Routledge also represented good business, especially given the way he has continued to develop as a player and integral part of the Swans' side after Rodgers' departure.
Danny Graham was the marquee signing at the time , costing £3.5m from Watford. With some doubts about how he would adapt to the Premier League, he paid that fee and more back with 12 league goals and was eventually sold for a profit to Sunderland.
Gylfi Sigurdsson had a huge impact after his winter loan and Steven Caulker was assured at the back. In the fullness of time, the £1.5m paid for Leroy Lita and other fees paid for players who were seen as ones for the future did not work out.
But still a brilliant season of signings, especially given so many clubs get it wrong when they are promoted to the top-flight.
Transfer market rating: 9/10

Good interview. Really encouraging that he had his backroom team in place so swiftly and that they are working away as we speak. They seem to grasp both the potential and the expectations of the club and support and there's a sense that this is more than a stop gap appointment for them. You get the impression they sense that something very special is possible here.
Exciting times.
Yes, I just watched that and there is a steely determination about the task ahead and the hard work that he knows is required to achieve what he feels we are capable of. Exciting times ahead beyond our domestic dominance.

I know it's a completely different kettle of fish at Celtic, but I was looking at Rogers signing record during his time at Liverpool. 33 players signed, for a total of £292,050,000 There really is a load of shampoo on that list. In some ways - maybe it's a good thing he won't have anywhere near that much money to waste at Celtic. His biggest challenge will be getting the most out of the players we currently have (contrary to some - I actually think we have the basis of a decent side. Just needs to offload some of the shampoo, and supplement the squad with a few important signings). He comes across well in that, he's much more down to earth than I thought he would be, I always had the impression he was a bit of a David Brent type.
How come he's talking about schools, I thought his kids were grown up?
