it certainly suggests he's here for the next few years if all goes well. I have good feeling about all this.
I'd be surprised if he's planning for anything less than 3 years. Good chance it could be longer too IMO

Agree. If he's on 8 in a row at that point, I doubt he would be going anywhere.

Thinking of getting a season ticket again. First time I've had a job that I'm not working most Saturdays. Anyone ever sat on there tod? How shampooe is it?
Depends on what type of person you are - can you chat to a guy you've never met before about fitba? Given you're Scottish and can speak then the answer must be yes lest you've got crippling anxiety in which case just say "Fuxake Mulgrew" or "Wellinbigyin" and people will think you're OK. Just be alright and crack the occasional funny and you'll make friends, which works everywhere and not just a football match.
Yeah I agree I have sat on my own last cpl of seasons.and I mean myself no one near me (no I'm not the unwashed fan) But you to get to know the folk nearby.sharing a laugh and joke.and the good and bad of watching Celtic

On an entirely tangentially related note, Martin O'Neill is now 64. That, in turn, makes me 43. That arithmetic was painful enough.

Much worse. Our new messiah is 42.

How the hell can I be older than this Celtic manager and his ineffective Norwegian predecessor?

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
I have sat in the same seat for 14 years, and only found out the guy next to (with whom I have shared a considerable number of manhugs, particularly against the pre-death zombies) was called Colin around two years ago. And that was because an anniversary message was shown on the big screen at half time.

will always remember i was in a friends seat for the st johnstone game that stopped 10 in a row and the guy next to me kissed me on the cheek and said i dont know you but i love you at full time  i said i love you too

Rodgers tried to take McGuinness to Liverpool. That's the last three managers he's had as fans,it helps to be well connected.
Sorry, what does the 2nd sentence mean?

Hardofthinkingcsc
He means there must be something about him since Lennon Deila and now Rodgers seen to want his services. Not sure if Deila agreed to signing him.

If, if, we were able to reach that number of titles in a row, I firmly believe we will have qualified, at least twice, for the CL Group Stages.

That will be vitally important.

To us in terms of finance and ability to further fund improvements/ changes to the squad. Which creates a further feel good factor amongst the squad and ability to attract some players due to our European adventures. If necessary, cash should be there if it became necessary to increase his wages due to contract negotiations to increase length and fend off approaches for him. And has been said above, attention turns to equally our historic achievement and hopefully, beating it. That's some motivation.

Rodgers will get a further insight into what our Club is about, he will enjoy the Fortress Parkhead nights and benefit from increased job satisfaction and a higher profile for him. Typically, the type of things that managers want.

The board should have realised this several years ago, as it really becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, with finance being generated to oil the cogs. Also helps forward planning. And, on occasion, our bean counting CE, might see cash from a player sale or two. But hopefully our road will see him dropped off, with someone else coming in who is more in tune with the Club and fans.

Jamie Carragher from the Mail(i know, I know)Online

MAN OF THE WEEK - BRENDAN RODGERS

Eyebrows will have been raised in some quarters about his decision to re-launch his managerial career in Scotland but, from Celtic’s point of view, this is a major coup.

Their last two appointments were Ronny Deila, who arrived unheralded from Norwegian side Stromsgodset, and Neil Lennon, who was taking his first job in management, so to recruit someone who two years ago took Liverpool to within two points of the title shows how well Celtic have done.

The feeling in Glasgow is this appointment rivals that of Martin O’Neill in 2000 but for Rodgers — who has agreed a 12-month rolling contract — to be remembered in similarly glowing terms, winning the Scottish Premier League won’t be enough if he wants to come south again and fight for trophies.

What sets O’Neill apart is his achievements in Europe in 2002-2003, when Celtic knocked the Liverpool team I played in out of the UEFA Cup en route to facing Jose Mourinho’s Porto in a final they dramatically lost 3-2.

O’Neill was able to sign players such as Chris Sutton and John Hartson from the Premier League but Rodgers recognises he won’t be buying from that market, as it’s difficult for Scottish clubs to buy top-level players from England. That, of course, is a negative but Rodgers didn’t let it influence his decision. He wanted to get back to work and is excited about the idea of trying to put what is undoubtedly a huge club back on the map in Europe.

I’ve played at Parkhead under the floodlights and sat in the stands for Champions League games against Ajax and Barcelona.

It’s an unbelievable stadium when it is bouncing and I know from experience Celtic have got a very good manager to get them what they want.
