Thinks Broony is a good captain...
Wibble

Hope he rocks the place & brings a new energy.
Just hope he's got the minerals to bin the heartless & the gutless, who've got us into this situation.

I just don't think a word which has caused offence to many across Scotland and beyond should be used in celebration of players managers from the North.
Caused offence to whom? :ponder:

Having watched the press conference and interviews, he's surprised me today by being quite un-Brendan Rodgers. If you compare him at Liverpool - expressive, verbose, and a bit full of himself - to today, it really looks to me like he's spent the last few months thinking about how he comes across and trying to tone down the David Brent tendencies he's displayed in the past. He pulled in 13,000 to see him, and he was the one who seemed a bit overawed. I'm sure he'll settle in and we'll see more of the Brendan Rodgers we all know and love, but I was pleasantly surprised by how humble and down-to-earth he seemed today.
 my biggest fear about Rodgers isn't his ability to handle it or his tactics (he's a young manager he's always gonna make mistakes etc.) but his mouth. More of today and hopefully a better quality of question in the future from the press and he should be OK. Keep the non-football answers short and sweet and make a fool of the press with actual football chat the odd time it does come up. Felt for him today as he had to give the same answer about 8 times, due to the shampooey press.

Had no idea that BR had been linked with the Leicester job. Then again, Mandaric did spend a couple of summers touting it around to all and sundry.

Not sure how the Rodgers/Burns dream team would have worked out for us, though, especially as that was the season that Tommy took ill.

I have absolutely nothing against John Kennedy but I would rather not see him in the first team dugout again.
Is that not a wee bit irrational?

He comes across as a real leader. I still can't believe he's our manager. Best appointment since MON. I predict good things.

Lovely to hear Brendan speak so warmly about the late, great Tommy Burns. :worthy:

Also great to hear about his family and how they have been in tears. I’m sure Brendan will not let them, or us, down.

Disappointed, though, to hear a couple on here having a go at John Kennedy.
Why?
I’m totally happy to leave the choice of backroom staff to Brendan.
He has much more information and insight as to peoples’ worth than anyone who posts on here. A lot more.
But why any Celtic fan would want to have a go at John Kennedy is totally beyond me.

Broony was our best player last season. His best days may be behind him now, and aye, maybe it's almost time for him to call it quits.
But the abuse he gets is harsh. Especially seeing as he's been playing through injury and his body is falling apart.

Give him peace, he's served our club well.

That was sensational. Can't believe the size of the crowd, absolutely magic! The rendition of YNWA was fantastic.

I like the cut of Brendan's jib. Welcome to Celtic.

Seems like the references to conversations with DD back up my info that it was DD who decided to go after BR with a passion. The reason he sought him out so vigorously apparently was down to the behaviour of the Rangers contingent in the hospitality area shared by both teams after the SC Semi-final. Their behaviour was compared to the hordes that were occupying the West stand that day and DD and his family were furious at the lack of respect and decorum normally reserved for the shared area. Looks like his statement of intent with BR backs up what was described to me as "That ain't ever happening again" Rangers Board and accomplices once again look to have shot themselves in the foot and done the supporters of CFC another massive favour.
This seems to be growing arms and legs - He was out of his seat and out of the ground before a penalty was hit.
Perhaps their behaviour was so bad, even during the game, that he couldn't wait to get out of there?

Funny how the word Fenian never used to be a problem, and now it is :suspect:

I'm happy for the mockraged, handwringers, knickerwetters, and closet huns to be offended on my behalf

Edit - never mind. I don't want to offend anyone!

I have absolutely nothing against John Kennedy but I would rather not see him in the first team dugout again.
Loved him as a player.... but he's the first team coach with responsibility for defence.
This season the defensive frailties were on a weekly bases.
John has to take responsibility for us not improving as a team.
It's not about being being 'liked' by your colleagues,
It's about about being liked by your colleagues because you're good at your job.

IMHO, Brendan will give him a chance to improVe but sack him in December,

Said all he right things as you'd expect.

Looks like Celtic got it spot on with the event.

Will be interesting in the few months ahead. The biggest thing that comes across is the great job of persuading him to come that PL and DD did.

If I had the money I'd get a season ticket tomorrow if I could.

Brilliant buzz about the place for a change - something the club has needed in quite some time. :)

Any word yet on who his assistant will be ?
Heard a soundcloud clip from @celticresearch and he says he has some trusted guys he worked with at Swansea and Liverpool. My guess is that's referring to Chris Davies and Ryland Morgan. Can't see Pasco being involved again. He also mentioned having someone with local knowledge, so Kennedy and woods will likely form part of the backroom.
Also mentioned it would be sorted out in the next couple of weeks. Looks like he poured some cold water on the Gerrard paper talk.

I have no idea if JK is a good guy or a wink. If he has good advice to pass onto individual players or not. I don't think anyone can make a call on that without being part of the dressing room.

But I don't buy into him ever being responsible for organising the defence. The ultimate responsibility for that will, and has, sat with the manager. Surely JK's role will be to work with individual players and latterly channel the organisational ideas of the manager. Whether or not he's any good at that BR willing find out soon enough. I imagine he'll bring in his own people fairly swiftly anyway.
