I think this must surely be a lesson for the powers that be; if they at least try to show some ambition and match the hopes and dreams of the Celtic support, people will buy into it. For far too long they have been paying lip service to the whole thing. They are paying top dollar for Rodgers but they will get the money back and then some. Finally (I hope) the penny has dropped.
Correct. It only needs an extra few thousand season tickets and we've covered the increase salary spend. And that's before you consider the hike in sales of merchandise etc. The place was rocking.

The austerity that the board have embarked upon over the last few years has cost us a fortune.
Do you think it's just coincidence that rangers are in the league and the board ha taken this approach?
Had they not gained promotion and Ronny left would we have ended up with a Lambert or McKay and continued along the previous couple seasons pass?

I honestly think that is the case, they've looked at them coming up as a commercial opportunity (increased coverage with the celtic v rangers games), supporter apathy and the fact we haven't built on their absence and realised they had to do something pretty big (in terms of Scottish football)

Going out and getting an EPL manager and making him the highest paid is a big statement of intent

Don't get me wrong, there in a lot of pressure on BR to have a measure of success in Europe now but that is why he's the highest paid in the league
Agree 100%

Seeing Paul the Tim storming the directors box was reminiscent of the Libyan Rebel wearing Gaddafi's general hat after they ransacked his palace.

I don't think it's wholly due to them coming up. We've squandered north of £40m in the last two seasons alone, and that is before you take into account the benefits of commercial and merchandise sales. Had Ronny Deila succeeded in getting to the CL and developing a coherent unit on the park, I'm sure he'd have stayed in situ. I genuinely think Peter Lawwell thought he was being a crafty bastard by getting someone in whi could get at least a year unchallenged in Scotland and create a Champions League team.

This investment will probably pay for itself very quickly and some strategic player investment could pay for itself by getting CL money. It's a different approach but I don't think it's wholly down to nuevo-hun.

Had they not spectacularly failed in their play-off last year, there is no question that Ronny Deila would have been sacked for some big name manager. It's cos our own experiment failed that we're here.

It says a lot about that we have more fans show up for the unveiling of a new manager than most SPFL teams have attend league games

There's clearly a bit of buzz and anticipation around the club again which has pretty much been missing since we went out of Europe

A few decent early signings and everyone should be happy again
sorry quoted wrong post

The Deila thread reached Page 128 the morning after the Legia game.

The Rodgers thread has reached Page 128 three days after his initial appointment.

Okay enough of the comparisons, as we were :ph43r:

growing up it as always a Hun thing they did during YNWA.

I've noticed the GB do it.

Don't like it or the 10 in a row chant. We're only at 5.

5 years is a lifetime in football.
