Good move for all parties.

I can't see him going to Kilmarnock without assurances he would be starting most games either.

Most of Agathe's games for us were as a right back in a back four. But I take your point - it's unusual for players to be established in one position and then adopt a totally different position and establish themselves there as well. Not really relevant to Ajer though, who doesn't sound as though he's ever established himself in any position. Hopefully that means he's a more well-rounded player than someone who's grown up only learning one position.
It wasn't until his 4th season that we started playing a back 4, the next 2 seasons he didn't get many games.
His first three seasons we played 3 - 5 - 2 with him being right wing back. Next two we moved to 4 - 4 - 2 with him at RB and McNamara on left. After that Strachan came & never fancied him and that was that.

True! Given BR recent comments on plastic pitches I would have thought he'd have preferred to have him playing on grass. I think location was a big factor in the decision to send him to Killie, wouldn't want to up route the boy again
Apparently Start's home ground is a plastic pitch
That team always remind me of the cereal of the same name from the 1980's.

Might free up some away tickets now!!!

At Hamilton he was in with the Troops with his burd, sisters :pumptheclown: ,Mum and Dad - I thought ffs he has seven tickets here - They left with ten minutes to go and it turned out another 5 of his entourage where with in the row behind him so there was 12 of them n all.

Good luck to him - I have a feeling Rodgers has hopes for Ajer with Celtic.

He is now a central defender, he will get lots of practice at Killie! He looks technically a decent player so this is probably good chance to see how he stands up against Scottish fitbaws finest knuckle draggers
And that's just at training.

Cool, calm and collected Ajer

On-loan Celtic defender Ajer impressed on his Killie debut. The Norwegian certainly looked the part and has an eye for a pass. He also has a good engine and can read the game.

Good to see him start at the first opportunity. Celtic must have gotten assurances he would. Presumably he can't play against us, though I haven't seen any mention of a clause?

Did he play as a centre half? There was no mention in the article.

Ooft!

I appreciate the links you post, Zurawski, but any chance you could say where they lead?

I'd prefer not to give hits to sites like the DR (Sun, etc.).

Edit to say: Sorry, reading this back it sounds a bit terse. Just felt a bit soiled when I found myself on the DR site.

From the BBC report: 'The best of the debutants was Kristoffer Ajer, on loan from Celtic and playing with strength and poise at centre-back.'

He was perhaps the fastest player I've ever seen in a Celtic jersey. I seem to remember when he came to us Hibs had played him mostly up front in his short stint there. Right wing back suited him as he was so fast & could run all day, however his final ball and shooting were not as strong, though still more than passable (he did get at assist in the UEFA cup final). I felt right back was his best position, his pace got us out of many a bad situation and his tackling was superb. He was a mainstay of MONs Celtic side, up there with Sutton, Lennon, Thompson & Pettov as a key man in the success alongside Henrik.

There's more scheidt talked about Didier Agathe's final ball than even Aiden's. You can't check out videos from MON's time without being astonished at the number of assists he made. He was an integral part of MON's team who was ditched by Strachan for no other reason than he wanted the jaw-droppingly ordinary Telfer, one of his first signings if not his first, in the team. Didier deserved better than to be lied about being a poor trainer by a manager with an agenda. It coloured my view of WGS from the start. Didier scored some of my most ecstatic Celtic goals -- Ajax and Dundee away in particular. :worthy:
