Loan to a club in Scotland? Hibs, Thistle or St Johnstone. No point in going back to Norway.

I think the boy obviously has talent, but is he one of these guys that doesn't really have a role or can fit into a specific position? Not seen enough to judge, but just get that impression.

Having watched Ajer a few times at Dev Team level where i think he has never failed to disapoint its good to see him do well at international level. Maybe he's just taking time to settle in a new country and into a new way of playing but it is concerning when he is constantly the weaker of our midfielders at that level, especially given his experience.

do we have any good prospects in midfield? I'm not really clued up on our youth players.

I don't think he has been the weakest of our midfielders in any of the games i've seen. He's been steady enough. I think if he had been home grown there would have been plenty of "the big guy looks like a player" type comments. I think folk are watching these games and understanably expecting him to be an absolute standout. He hasn't been but he's been ok and i thought he looked very good in the pre-season games v Wolfsburg and Inter.

If we loan him out for the 2nd half of the season hopefully it is to another Scottish team. Would benefit all parties concerned.

The new Mulgrew? :ph43r:

He's a DM imo, not sure the manager agrees though.

He's got the legs to be a very good sitting midfielder. He also reads the came very well.

I don't see him as a centre back though.

There's always been a fair amount of chat about Joe Thomson but not sure I really see it. Jamie Lindsay (out on loan as well) was involved with first team preseason but not sure he'll step up now.

I think Connor McManus is still with us but he hasn't featured once this season so if he is then he must be injured. Mark Hill is now a regular pick. Not seen him at all.

Have heard about Mark Hill through a contact at that level. Very good prospect apparently.

Celtic are sending highly rated teenager Kris Ajer on loan to Kilmarnock for the rest of the season.

The Norwegian midfielder signed a four-year deal with the Hoops last February after impressing on trial.

Ajer, 18, has yet to start for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers but has always been considered a player for the future.

Now he will be given to Killie gaffer Lee Clark for the next four months as his education in the Scottish game moves up a gear.

Rodgers said: “Kris will go to Kilmarnock. There were a couple of options but it’s good for him to play there.

“He has settled in here so he can go and play there for the rest of the season where we can keep a close eye on him and take him back.”

Kristoffer Ajer has spoken to Norwegian TV2 tonight about his loan move to Kilmarnock and his time at Celtic so far

Ajer: Brendan Rodgers wanted me to stay close to Glasgow. Gone very well last few months and been decided that I'll play at centre-half.

Ajer: I could have gone to England, but would have been as midfielder. Celtic wanted me to play centre-half & see me in Scottish league

Ajer: Now it's important I'll get playing time and experience as centre-half and I hope I'll get this now (at Kilmarnock)

Ajer: I'll stay in same apartment as now as Kilmarnock is not far from Glasgow. My only sign-on fee was a new and really nice pool cue

Ajer: Rodgers said he wants me at Celtic from the summer, so it's very important I'll get playing time and experience as a centre-half.

Ajer: My time at Celtic has been great - while I haven't played much I've had an enormous amount of good training time.

Ajer; Brendan and his coaching team are fantastic - just being here at Celtic last few months has been so inspiring and I've learnt a lot

Ajer: Socially I'm also really part of the group and now I even manage to be funny in English.

Ajer; At the start I just sat in my corner and chuckled at all the funny stuff, but now nobody jokes more in the dressing room than me.

Surprised he was allowed to go to a club with a plastic pitch. Hopefully he gets plenty of game time and takes the chance to skelp Sevco

Probably grew up on plastic pitches as do most players in Scandinavia now.

True! Given BR recent comments on plastic pitches I would have thought he'd have preferred to have him playing on grass. I think location was a big factor in the decision to send him to Killie, wouldn't want to up route the boy again
