Apparently Ajer has in his contract that he will train regularly with the first team (according to Deila). Deila also believes Ajer will end up as a central defender and compares him to Brede Hangeland who also started his career as a midfielder.

How did he do last night?
Looked a bit nervy and skittery. I thought young McCart looked good.
A bit nervous, I agree. He mostly went for the safe pass. A bad touch got him into trouble once, but good to see that he had speed enough to clean up his own mess.

Except for that, I thought he did well in a half where the Celtic defence were busy enough.

You can tell he has strength and he looked comfortable in possession, played a couple of nice passes aswell. Didn't look comfortable in a positional sense at centre half. If RD believes he will be a centre half he will probably turn into a top quality midfielder :ph43r:

At this stage it's probably not the worst thing to try and develop him in a different position - hopefully it will help to make him a more accomplished player. If he can become a midfielder who can sit in front of the back four and someone who can drop into the back 4 with ease (to cover a centre half or as his main position) he'll become invaluable. Wanyama wasn't great at centre half when he was first played there, but by the time he left he was more than able when called upon to play that role.

He'll probably become a striker, then.

We signed big Johan Mjallby as a defensive midfielder and her turned into an exceptional defender. Big Ajaer has even taken the same squad number

Cunning plan or "feck it , we've got shampooloads of midfielders and the buggers tall , let's chance it "

Only time will tell .

Playing him at CB could work but he did the same with Emre Can who has since shown he is better at CM. Still it's a good option to have.

That Deila is gone is a big advantage for him. Less pressure.

He had a very good moment yesterday, read the danger in front & was quick to react & cut off the ball, turned the player & calmly redistributed the ball.

Looks to have a calm confidence, especially considering his age - can see why he's captained his old club.

From the little I've seen him in the hoops, I think he'll go on to be really good for us.
