It is fair to say that KT was exposed in the CL but I bet he would have learned a lot from those games judging by the way he is performing now, it is no disgrace to come up against players like Messi and fall short, there were others on the team that were poorer in how they played.

I'm in my 50's now but watching KT and how he has behaved as a Celtic player brings me back to how I felt about Tommy Burns & Danny. I hope he is with us for years.

I'm not saying he's not an excellent young player. I'm just pointing out I don't think he's quite at the level a lot of people seem to think he's at.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Andy Robertson is better

Is what is being spoken of tierney this afternoon
Nobody has said he's pish. That would be an utterly ridiculous statement. As is thinking he is the perfect player.
Who said Tierney was the perfect player or anything close to it?

You are correct.

It will be an unpopular opinion.

Well folk seem to think it's ridiculous in criticising any part of his game.

Agree with this - there's aspects of his game that he can obviously improve on, but even without those improvements he's still a cracking player. Not even just one with great potential, he's already performing impressively and will improve further.

Derek Johnstone just paid tribute by saying what he likes about him is he rarely has a bad game, fair comment, but he added, he likes that he stays on his feet? Every time I've watched Tierney he adores a slide tackle. I think Broony even aluded to this on the clubs YouTube vid's. Wonder if Johnstone has seen him play.

This lad is already the best left-back we've had in 2 decades and he's only 19.
He will only get better.
He loves the club.

He has weaknesses, but I don't think they are glaring, and he has the attitude that will mean he will work to eradicate them from his game. For a young player, he is a remarkably consistent performer. He also isn't just 'good going forward' or 'solid, but no good attacking'...he is good at both!

He works hard, gets up and down the pitch for 90 mins and has good delivery in attacking situations. He rarely swings an aimless cross in, he generally picks people out, and his assist tally is testament to that.

The comparisons to Andy Robertson are interesting, since Robertson is 3 years (and a few months) older than KT. How good will Kieran be 3 years from now?

Left back is a notoriously difficult position to fill, and Scotland now has 2 young quality LBs to choose from. If only we had centre halves.....

Perhaps he meant when Tierney is the one being fouled/tackled? He tries to stay on his feet and yesterday one of the Hearts players halfed him and he bounced right back up. Nae theatrics.

There are still parts of his game which he can improve on. That ought to scare the opposition. His attitude is absolutely fantastic and probably just as important as his abilitiy to ensure he has a brilliant career. His consistency is unbelievable.

Tierney is also a better defender and player than Andy Robertson.

People get right precious about homegrown players don't they.

It's quite funny.

Really? I would say that homegrown players aren't shown enough patience. I'd say KT is clearly the exception but then again he's clearly the best talent to break through since McGeady and let's face it Aiden had more than his fair share of critics in the stands

There's no rule really. Kennedy, McManus, Tierney. All looked after.

Forrest, McGeady, Maloney. Maybe not.

Maybe we like defenders.

Good point. Never thought of it that way.

Depends on your measurables.

Playing kerplunk? Perhaps.

I really should have said has the potential to be the best left back. Apologies for getting carried away

On the form of Sunday there are not many better than him when he plays like that and I can only see him get better and better but best reign the gushing in until then.

I hope KT continues his development and gets even better but even if he didn't, he is still an outstanding talent.
