How good is Tierney in comparison to Danny McGrain at the same age?
I'm too young to remember Danny, but my auld man always described him as the best FB in the world in his prime.

Might have been an exaggeration, but My Da was a hard man to impress.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Danny McGrain, from an early age, was destined to be the best right back on the planet.
Kieran has potential, bags of potential, but we need to let him develop and learn. He's in really good hands right now, and if he wants to, he can become a truly great player. Whether he will ever be as good as Danny McGrain remains to be seen, but if he doesn't make it, he could still be one hell of a player.
Well said

Struggling to think of a better left back in the uk currently . He's absolutely brilliant . What a talent
There isn't one. Will be the record transfer fee for a scottish player by some considerable distance if/when he goes.

It's ridiculous the amount of inch perfect crosses the boy puts in. He very rarely wastes a cross and has an F1 engine. Fair bombs up and down the wing.
Alonso and Azpilicueta at Chelsea

Rose at Spurs

Clichy at Man City

Baines at Everton

Bertrand at Southampton

Pieters at Stoke

All better left backs than KT (IMHO). He has the potential.....head and shoulders above anything in the Scottish game. Champions League shows his weaknesses. However, if he continues to develop like he has been doing he'd be right up there with the best. If he can add more goals to his assists that would be another plus.

I agree with all you say. Reason I asked is that I didn't see Danny week in week out at that stage, but for me only he and Larsson would have been good enough to make the Lion's team.
Tierney is a player that makes you anticipate something is going to happen when he is on the ball going forward, excellent defender in the making and is teak tough.
Just wondering if Danny was as impressive in his first two years.

I've never seen a better full back than Danny McGrain and he could play on either side too as we saw for Scotland, which was essentially to accommodate Sandy Jardine, another fine player, at right back.

Has the potential to be world class someday soon if he continues at this rate. Easily One of the best young talent in the U.K at the moment. Absolutely delighted for him. Keep it up KT!

If he can avoid any major injuries that will take the edge off his attacking game then he'll just get better and better as his defensive instincts get better with experience.

Embodies Celtic. Still a bit to go in terms of his composure in his own half at times, but his ability to pick out a cut back is unbelievable. Not sure I've ever saw a full back hit his man so much with those.

Was he really out injured for a period of time? Normally players take a bit to get back to their best but he simply outstanding. In hindsight the injury has probably served him well allowing him to recharge batteries and heal the shoulder as well. Outstandingly consistent.
I thought the very same when watching him today. There is no holding back with him at all. He flew into a fair few tackles when you'd not have faulted him if he'd held back a little.

I grew up with DMcG and he is the greatest player I have seen in a Celtic shirt, KT has still a long way to go to come any where near Danny but he is getting there faster than I could have ever imagined. He seems to have a character & integrity from a bygone age coupled with a growing ability to be one of the best full backs in Europe.

Agree with that, but I think Rodgers also has players knowing where to position themselves properly too.
