What good does hitting the bye line do him, there never anyone in the middle to cross to.

Well in young man, must be beaming. Shows what hard work & a good attitude can do, many other more experienced players could take notes.

And yet Forrest and Mulgrew somehow get in the squad too :suspect:

Well in, Kieran. Well deserved.

He's a good defender, and has a decent cross on him. Could definitely offer more going forward and his distribution from the left back position isn't the greatest. Prone to the Mark Wilson punt down the line quite a bit.

For an 18 year old to come into this Celtic side and be consistently one of the better players says a lot I think. Very hard to stand out in a team full of players in poor form. Even harder for someone who's just breaking through.

Definitely a lot of potential there and his age has got to be remembered. Been a while since we've had such a young player come in and be a first team regular so quickly.

Think we're making a mistake freezing Izzy out though. Pair of them should be fighting for the spot and Izaguirre is still a good player. I'd say he gives us more going forward due to his composure on the ball and willingless to get beyond whoever's infront of him though his crossing is erratic and he's not as good a defender. Pair of them are good options however. Only position in the team I think we're sorted for atm.

just in general stretches the play and will leave room at the edge of the box as all the defenders will retreat in to their box. It can also make play less predictable if you have the option

Aye it makes a massive difference. Particularly as on the left hand side we rarely play with an actual winger and look more for an inside forward type of player in there. Makes it very predictable when the full back knows he's got Armstrong for pace on the inside and no-one coming to help him on the overlap. Crosses tend to be easier to deal with from further back as well though Tierney has set up a a couple of goals from deep positions this season.

Done well getting to the byline against Morton and set up GMS.

Idiotic selection by WGS - give the lad some time to develop.

I'd be very surprised if he plays, WGS has a habit of calling up younger players to introduce them and train with the squad

A Scotland call-up?

What's he doing that I'm just not seeing?
You are aware of just how guff Scotland's full backs are, aye?

Anyway. Well deserved Kieran. One of two positives this gutter season.

Keeping a seasoned and well respected internationalist out of the Celtic team speaks volumes for him. Well done, kid!

A chunk of our first team squad play for Scotland so he's been playing and training at a similar level already. I think it's good that he's getting a taste of international football.

Who'd be a Scotland boss eh Gordon?

It will be more about getting him into a squad to get some experience of the set-up. And id he gets a game all the better, they are only friendlies after all.

The more tartan Celts the better :rocker:

Along with Shinnie (who should also be in the squad) he's the Scottish left back in the best form imo. Deserves his chance.

Well done kieran. If Scotland are ever going to progress we need to get our youngest most promising talents playing international football sooner. Step in the right direction hopefully for both player and national team

Pleased for him. Been one of the few bright spots this season. At such a young age I like to think he can only get better.

Agree. Btw not to hijack the thread but I see Tony Watt is in the squad to face Czech Rep. Maybe we gave up on him too soon.
