Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
To be fair, Tierney would shade it, but Danny's 66 with health issues (not that they ever stopped him anyway  )

As Croy is too young to know, see the level young Kieran struggled at during the week? That's the level MCGrain played at. Every week.
TBF, don't think Danny was anywhere near the first team at Kieran's age, let alone a regular.
I reckon Danny had way more competition for the position.

Did any European clubs make offers for Daniel Fergus? I'd be interested to know if there were always rumours about his future a la McStay.

I was kidding on.
You had a good few on the line tbf. ;)

Fwiw Tierney is a cracking prospect but has a lot to learn - If he ever gets near Danny McGrain levels I would be ecstatic.
I wasn't trolling or anything, I thought folk would be laughing rather than disagreeing

I don't see Tierney being anything better than a very good, very solid defender.

EDIT: that's not a negative, I'd be delighted with that. Expect him to be Celtic & Scotland's left back for years to come

Don't think he's got the pace for defending at the top level.

I think he could easily play in The EPL.

He's not got the fitness for that level at this stage of his career.

Plenty of time to keep improving though.

In the future, yes.

Not at present.

Not a popular opinion (I don't think) but in time I see him more as a left mid/left winger than a left back.

I disagree. He would do well down there.

I know Revie asked Jock to name his price for Danny and was told there wasn't one.

He consistently has the poorest passing stats in the team.

If he ends up as our left winger we'll have a poor, poor side.

That not possibly overstated by the fact he's often putting the final ball into the box which can be intercepted more easily?

On the other hand he has 4 assists in 12 games according to this website:

No, it has nothing to do with that.
Hapoel away etc was all to do with his just punting the ball aimlessly upfield.

Even were that true, it wouldn't explain why his percentages are 15-25% worse every match than those of our right back.

I've said before that he's excellent in the final third.
It's the middle third of the pitch (midfield) where he lacks composure.

No sure Lustig gets that far forward these days :ph43r:

Composure comes with experience, willing to give him time seeing as he's not been a consistent part of the first team for a full season.

Look at Fenerbahce away.
Lustig had an assist, pass completion of 92%.
Tierney no assist, 69%.

I'm willing to give him time to grow as a left back, but as a long term replacement for Scott Sinclair?
No chance.
