You're head of marketing at Celtic on 50k a year, a big Celtic fan and very happy in your job.

You're head-hunted for the same job at Everton on 200k.

Stick or twist?
Not really the same. I doubt many guys go through school trying to fulfil their ambition of working in the Celtic marketing team, or being the guy that gets to throw patter about on the Celtic Twitter page.
True but surely footballers aspire to be the best they can be and want to play at the highest level possible.

I have no doubt Tierney's dream was to play for Celtic but also appreciate his talent could take him further and it may mean having to leave Celtic to reach the top.

If kieran Tierney turns down 85k a week to play football somebody needs to have a strong word with him let's be honest. There isn't 1 person in the world who isn't going to a new job for 4 times their current salary.

If he can get it fair play, hope he goes and enjoys himself and when he's 36 comes and buys a season ticket and joins the rest of us in the stands.

Not forgetting it wouldn't be a large salary to go and play in China the middle East.

Tierney would be earning a very high salary while also playing in one of Europe's top league's which will only see him get better.

Aye the discussion being about money is all well and good, but in terms of progression and development while he's in a very good place for that at the moment, if he's going to become the player he can be he will have to move on at some point. And the discussion when he does will probably still be focused on the financial side of it rather than his own development.

Let's be honest though, it's not all about money. If as a fan you can become sick to the back teeth of seeing the same shampooe teams playing at the same shampooeholes four times a season, then it would hardly be a surprise to find out a player might fancy trying something else and pushing himself a bit more, either.

Love KT, but would love to see him test himself at a higher level (and then run down his contract before rejoining on a free :ph43r: ).

That's fine but I really wish folk would spare us the crap about players, often already millionaires needing to set their family up etc.

I also happen to think, in terms of his development, a few more years at Celtic would be beneficial rather than a hindrance.

Guy is already by far the best left-back in the country and has been for a while; some people think he's already the best in the UK. If he goes to any PL team and secures a starting slot then he's going to be in a far better position to develop than he is here. What more does he have to learn in Scotland? 6 CL games a season, 2/4 of which usually involve getting rattled, are no substitute for playing against on average, far better players every single week.

See this patter " I want to see KT test himself at the highest level" . It's garbage. effing wrap it.

You're not his dad or grandfather. You're a Celtic man, you want him to play for Celtic the rest is mushy hearted pishflaps.

Would I stand in Kieran's way if he wanted to earn some corn for him and his family to be secure for the rest of their lives? Should we stop him from going toe-to-toe with the best of the best? Yes to both.

I don't know, did I dream of marketing for Celtic? Did I practice everyday as a kid? Did my dad take me to the marketing place and I looked in the window longingly, wishing that it was me inside, doing all the marketing?

Hes got a slight point though, surely we want the best for Celtic, not sitting following a players career giein it #KT63 on social media when he scores against Brentford in the FA Cup.

correct

I want him to perform at the highest level at Celtic for the best years of career. We should be keeping him as long as we can then and only then selling him for a profit.

4 years from now if he doesn't want to sign a new deal and stay for 12 in a row ok let's sell him Boy is only going to get better and go up in value.

What he does after Celtic is immaterial to me, as a foot note I hope he does well.

Dunno, but wanting Celtic players to leave to 'test themselves' is a bit odd.

Tierney aside, it’s interesting to see how many people seem to think that a 21-year-old should make their career decisions based purely on money.

So you've never seen an ex-Celtic player go on and do well somewhere else and felt a wee bit of joy for that player?
