If kieran Tierney turns down 85k a week to play football somebody needs to have a strong word with him let's be honest. There isn't 1 person in the world who isn't going to a new job for 4 times their current salary.

If he can get it fair play, hope he goes and enjoys himself and when he's 36 comes and buys a season ticket and joins the rest of us in the stands.

I'm sure if he stays at Celtic for another couple of seasons people will understand, 85k per week or not.

This kind of pish talk needs to stop.
He can move for money any time.
Career ending injuries are rare these days and the people advocating moving in case of it are the ultimate Celtic Da's tbh

If he goes, he goes. Ill certainly think alot less of him no denying it, but its up to him and i doubt he gives one eff what i think of him either
As for turning down £85k a week... The perspective is if youre earning £25/30k playing for the team you love, would you? I wouldn't, not yet anyway

Its mental to read Celtic fans giving it "hope he goes and enjoys it" about one of our best players.

He's only been in our first team 3 seasons, WTF is wrong with people.

Was feeling pretty downbeat about KT moving over the last week but I think I'm more positive about him staying now. No bids have come in, to anyone's knowledge, and the discussion about him leaving in the SMSM seems to have died down. Honestly, we can't seem to get a bloody decent right back or centre back in, I have zero hope that we could replace KT with £25m. Our recruitment has been woeful.

Don’t disagree with most of that but you only have to look at the number of players who’ve gone to China in the past three years and quickly realised it wasn’t for them to realise money isn’t everything. Carlos Tevez left his beloved Boca Juniors for £500,000 per week in China and walked out of his contract less than a year later because he was utterly miserable.

Are there really celtic fans saying "hope he goes ..." ?

saying "good luck to him If he goes " is different from hoping he goes.

And millions better off. Sure he regrets every minute while in his mansion or ferrari.

Bit different to 'going nowhere'.

If he doesn't want to leave, then he should bin the people leaning on him to do so. If they're close to him, he should get them told that it's his own dreams and ambitions he has to live for, not anyone else's.

If he still wants to go after that, he should slap in a transfer request.

Or, if it's the club pushing for it, he should just simply say he's going nowhere and force their hand. Then the fans will know where they stand.

This is about 10 days now all because of an unnecessary interview. We're seemingly in limbo defensively until it's sorted out. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be trying to get a competent back up for the position anyway. Or crack on sorting out other weak areas of the defence.

A normal person doing a normal job being offered 4 times their salary can't really be compared to this situation.

His salary is already massive and he can afford to do whatever he wants and his job is to play for Celtic and in future his job would be to captain Cetlic. He is a Celtic fan who grew up wanting to play for and captain a successful Celtic team. Like we all did. Except he's actually doing it.

I'm 100% certain if I was in his position I wouldn't be giving it up for Everton.

Didn’t realise you were one of the ITK guys.

What a joke the club putting every defensive position on hold until KT makes his mind up ;)

Ha! You’ve no idea what you would do in that situation. Or at a previous point in your life have you been offered £80k a week to move job?

You can’t live the same life on £2m a year that you can on £5m a year, especially when you can only earn that money for about 10 years of your life.

You’re right about one think though - playing for Celtic is his job, and just like any other employee at any other business in the world, he’ll go work for someone else who is willing to more than double his salary. The idea that Tierney would turn that down cos he loves Celtic is romantic pish.

I’ve no ill feelings towards him at all, btw.

China ain’t Liverpool.

Tevez was taking the piss in China, he called it a holiday himself before joining Bocca again.. They aren’t comparible situations.

The argument people are making with regards to the jump in wages not mattering when you already earn great money is ridiculous. As others have correctly pointed out, of course none of us would turn down a 4 x salary increase, and it doesn’t matter if you take home 20k a week or a year.

Anyway, for what it’s worth I don’t think he will go this window, which would be great. But I’m finding it hard to get upset about the thought of him going. It’s just the way it is now in ridiculous modern football with insane money. There’s no point in getting upset about it, Celtic will still be here after he goes.
