I suppose he can't fail to have seen how well Andy Robertson has done this last 12 months. I'm sure KT wants to play in a CL final as well.

He has a better chance of playing in a CL final with Celtic, we do at least qualify for the CL on a semi-regular basis. Everton haven't got a hope.

Whatever happens I hope it's resolved quickly, can't be arsed with 2 months of total nonsense as we try to negotiate our way into the group stage.
I think he will be here for most of the qualifiers. We are already short in the defensive area.

 So Everton leaked their interest, Rodgers gave a lengthy non-denial on it, but it’s the media who have been stirring it up.

Not impressed by media attempts.... eh whit?. Our manager spoke at length on the issue ffs. If the club didn't want a media frenzy why didnt Rodgers simply state Tierney was going nowhere, end of? Beyond belief.
Yeah, exactly. Rodgers' comments really set off the alarm bells. The club could have nipped this one in the bud last week but chose not to. Bizarre.
Did he not just say the exact same things Desmond said about him re Arsenal?

Aye, and that was pish as well.

I'm sure these conversations and reassurances can be had behind closed doors, without creating a situation that the entire football world is alerted to new opportunities, where they might have previously felt it was a non starter.

“This is his life and he loves being here,” said Rodgers. “His mum and dad are Celtic-daft.

“But it is a short career and you have to be mindful of that, and it’s only right.

“The number of times I hear about players from times gone by, and of the great loyalty they showed to the club. Then I’m told they’re now struggling, financially.

“So you have to consider that aspect, especially when there is a limit as to how far your club can push.”

>>>>>>

Rodgers is correct. It's only duty of care to consider and talk about all offers.

This is completely different from the club pushing him out or KT wanting to leave.

FWIW, I'm calling pish on the whole thing except Everton's interest.

To stop the rumours all KT has to do is put it out there that it's nonsense and he ain't going anywhere, considering his family and friends and him will be getting hounded about it and he isn't coming out and denying it tells me there is something in it, would love to know the real reason behind it though.
Even if Tierney wants to stay, he could use the Everton interest to get a more lucrative contract from us. He doesn’t really have much to gain by showing his hand and declaring that he’s staying no matter what - apart from making some fans feel better of course!

Something in it like there is interest but can't be bothered saying 'I'm staying at Celtic' for the thousandth time this year after another attempt to unsettle him from Huns at the daily record

I still think it’s the same ploy we used on Dembele.

Make it seem like we are willing to talk then keep hold for another year and make sure clubs are sending their scouts.

We then get a more highly focused player for a year.

Makes more sense than just letting things tick along until the player decides first and his form drops.

I reckon KT will be here for one more season, with Dembele off in January.

Dembele spent the best part of two months out of the team during the winter transfer window speculation, then took forever to find his form again. Not the most cunning of plans really.

What era was this "times gone by" he cites ? It would take a helluva mismanagement of finances to be skint after your career is over these days. Especially a guy in KT's position.

I think these kind of quotes could also be for the benefit of players and agents that consider using Celtic as a stepping stone to more lucrative gigs.

In fairness it`s not so much Brendans comments or the media that have folk on here stirred, many are immune to manager speak or media shampoo stirring.

It`s primarily at least 4 fairly reliable(?!) ITK posters affirmations for this.

Which, if wrong, will put their collective sources up there as reliable as witness information at a Salem witch hunt.

We should know better I suppose but most of us are fond of the guy.

If they think he's now a £25-£30m player, then he should be one of our top earners. He's not exactly a bit-part player.
