Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
If he goes, he goes.

However, I see a young guy, lives with his folks, goes to watch his mates playing on Sunday for the local pub and I definitely have reservations about him adjusting to life away from his local environment. Even just a couple of hundred miles away.

Add to that playing for a team who are going to lose as much as they will win, and with the exception of a couple of seasons in the eighties that has always been the case in my lifetime (I'm fifty), and I see problems ahead for him.

In my view he'd be better, for his own sake, waiting a few years. A wrong move at the wrong age to the wrong club will seriously harm his career. It has happened to players much better than him, e.g. Charlie Nicholas.

Celtic's forward planning here also is far from perfect.
Yeah this. To my knowledge this is the first concerete offer we've had for him and the frist genuine interest and hes deciding to leave. Not to mention the fact that everton are a basket case at the moment, and if silva gets a sniff of a better job he'll be offski. If Everton are in a hint of danger of relegation they'd bring back someone like big sam, play dire football and put epl journeymen into the team.

I dont why he's jumping at the chance to go Everton, who arent going to challenge for trophies. If he does well there then he'll cost £100+ in a couple of yrs and may price the bigger teams out a move, similar to Baines. If theyve meet our value for KT why we accepting it immediately?, its early in the window we could generate a bidding war for him.

Also bit strange this is all but confirmed today considering Tierney played for us earlier.
Arsenal bid for him two years ago and he turned it down

The biggest concern for me is if Tierney does go what signals that sends to the other players. Why should young players from abroad want to hang about when Mr Celtic jumps at first chance to leave?
Absolutely . Dembele and Ntcham would be the obvious two

If he wants to go that’s fine. We should be getting him told that we’re not letting him leave until the English Window is about to close. That gives us over a month to sign a stopgap replacement then about 3 weeks to get the actual, permanent replacement signed. In the meantime Tierney plays the qualifiers up to that point.

One report saying he will be on 85k basic rising to 140k  Currently on 20 k with us. Tough for anyone to turn that kind of increase down .

Weirdly, if KT has gone to Everton it feels like Dembele has shown more loyalty to the club, and he has no reason to nor should he be expected to.

Oh well. We better spend some serious money this summer.

Perhaps we already have the next KT coming through? The club surely wouldn’t be letting him go without decent replacements lined up or the knowledge of players breaking through this season?

Think a few are jumping the gun - KT leaves

Then like a house of cards Boyata Ncham Dembele Jozo will follow immediately no one will sign for is anymore

Oh and BR will leave too

I’ll be shocked and more than a little disappointed if he goes - esp to everton but we will survive this and BR knows what he’s doing - it’s a bump yes - but we are built on stronger foundations than many on here think

Bit odd this.
Seriously odd. This hasn’t just sprung up out of nowhere. How long has he wanted away?
Probably since he was speaking openly about being flattered by being linked to Spurs etc.

Puts the word out while at the same time saying he'd have signed for more than six years. Fans buy the latter, football clubs elsewhere take note of the coded language.

So the whole cultivation of his Mr Celtic status is quite calculated and makes him look worse - if it is indeed him angling for this. And, unlike Dembele, there doesn't appear to be any suggestion that the club are pushing for it.

Sorry but I genuinely can't believe it until it's confirmed. I'll be stunned if he's really off.
i'd be stunned if it was Everton , their not going to win anything

It's all a bit odd. 25m is less than we would get for making the CL. We are almost certain not to make the CL with our current defence minus Tierney.

As for Tierney - Everton is just a stop gap club for him but I think it is a poor move for him.
I dont think Everton will be a stop gap club for Tierney. Unlike Southampton for Vic and VVD, Everton are big enough to kid yourself on you might win something and rich enough to maximse your earnings. If Tierney does well it will be very easy for him to get incredibly comfortable at Goodison.

Yeah, that's true. Just look at his predecessor, who could have moved to a bigger club when he was young.

It'll probably encourage decent young players to join us. Play well in a piss poor league and you'll get mega money offers from England.
Well it worked for Wanyama, Van Dijk, Forster, they all got the moves that they wanted

Hull are infinitely pisher than Everton. How did that work out for Robertson?
It worked out well. He signed from Dundee Utd so it was a good move for him. Tierney is the future captain of Celtic and never shuts up about being a dyed in the wool Tim.

Dunno why the club didn't open up the bidding. If we don't even get that 25M that'll be another crack in the nuts.

They appear to have ambitions to go beyond mid table and their recent spending would indicate that. Their average attendance of just under 40k is about the capacity of their (admittedly sub par) stadium. I've been to Goodison a couple of times - Everton are a big club playing in one of the most attractive leagues in Europe. The way some people are talking you'd think he was leaving for League One or something.
I get it but really? Our finest product in a generation bolts for Everton? Nah. Not having that. Lateral move in footballing terms at best.
It's not about the team for the most part; it's about the league, the teams Tierney will face week in, week out. OK there is no Champions League but there is two games against Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Man U, Spurs, Liverpool etc at a big, ambitious club. Add in four or five times his current salary and it makes some of the stuff being aimed at Tierney look pretty effing ridiculous. Grown men gettin on like jilted girlfriends.

BTW... the only mistake Charlie Nicholas made was choosing Arsenal over Liverpool. Had he went to Anfield I think his career path would have taken a completely different trajectory. Leaving Celtic was not his mistake; going to Highbury was.
