There are EIGHT and a HALF weeks left until the transfer window closes plus nobody really knows what transfer deals the club are pursuing (that’s as it should be !) ....

... and yet we get “weaker team” and "poor window” plus unfounded criticism of the club’s management and supposed targets etc., etc. ...

... have a word a few of you .. just because it’s not happening quickly enough for you doesn’t mean it’s not happening ! And i bet you opened your Xmas presents early !

You judge a season at the end - not before the first game’s played. Likewise with the transfer window - wait until it’s closed and then comment on how good or bad it was.
Remy

Genuine Question.

If we make it past the Armenians we could face Rosenborg with a defence of Ralston/Hendry, Ajer, Simunovic and Calvin Miller. Are you comfortable with that ?

We are the same club that played Tony Stokes as a lone striker in the qualifiers. I have seen too many shambolic transfer windows to give them the benefit of the doubt. We are not good at closing transfer deals.
It’s not my post Corky. It’s from someone last night. I made the point that we have qualifiers, and having heard that Tierney was away at weekend, plus no Boyata or Lustig for a while, and with no signings in the offing bar the unneeded John McGinn, this is a disastrous, yet profitable, transfer window so far.

I want us in the CL. I don’t trust a defence with Ralston/Miller or Hendry to get us there.
I realise now. Please accept my apologies.

I don't trust that defence to get us into the Europa Cup never mind the CL.

Your concerns are legit. If we have a plan we need to get an effin move on.

Hope he ends up stuck on the bench getting loaned out to Aston Villa, then Bournemouth etc etc.

Aye yer right I shouldn't be upset at all at his badge thumping, pure tim daft, here for the long haul patter. We all knew what he meant when he said he was here long term, here for 10 then off to another club offering big wages. I could have accepted that no bother, this just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

WTF with giving the lad a hard time?

He's a fan that has been nothing but outstanding for us - and has just gifted us upwards of £25m by the sound of it.

There isn't anyone here that wouldn't take the money being offered to him. If not they should be having a wee look at getting their effing life priorities sorted out ffs.
There are plenty here who wouldnt take the money as they are getting ridiculous money to fulfill their dream. Especially to join everton. Maybe a bit different if a big club where in for you , but even then many celtic fans would stay at celtic.
It's kind of not that ridiculous money though when you actually sit and do the maths.

About £25k for another 10 years if he is good enough to maintain that kind of form? £6.5m after tax. That has to last over what, 60 odd years of his remaining life? £100 odd grand a year. That's before buying a house, car, living expenses as a young footballer etc. It's hardly poverty but by the same token it's a long way off the kind of life he can have and leave for his family within just a few years of playing in the EPL. He'll be on a sign on fee alone that'll probably cover multiple years wages at Celtic.

Incredibly simplified but you get the point. I'll be as gutted as the rest but I'll never castigate the boy for choosing to secure his and his families lives over sentimentality.
I’m almost inclined to agree, but...

It will still leave a very bitter taste, as a direct result of the six year contract, GB leading, might be a one club man schtick.

If you sign a 6-year deal, say its long-term then eff off at the first opportunity then you deserve all the crap from the fans you get. There are ways of doing things and that isn't it.
Could be that was done to maximise the transfer fee. No one knows what is going on in the back ground.
Well don't come on with 'I'm here long-term' then. It's not like there haven't been clubs sniffing about before.

This is the fifth transfer window where we haven't made a decent defensive signing. And while there is 8 weeks to go we could be out of Europe, or the CL, by then.

If he is going, jumping at the first club and that team is Everton, is poor in so many ways.

There's a way to leave a club like Celtic. This ain't it.
Especially after two and a bit years of playing Mr Celtic.

All this short career pish getting put about by the media, and a complient Mr Rodgers, comparing him to John Kennedy is especially unsavoury. Kennedy didnt have the security of a highly paid 6 year deal.

Losing our most potent attacking threat down the left. Sinclair will need to come good again.

No no no no no. Stop this nonsense. Him signing a six year deal was done for secirity for himself not the club ffs. It wouldn't matter if he only had two, three or five years left. He didnt do the club any favours.

To be fair, he’s getting less stick than McStay did in his thread and he stayed with us and was retired nearly 20 years.

I can see us playing 3-5-2 as it’s the only formation that allows us to pick Dembele, Edouard and Rogic in the same team. For it to be successful though, we’d need a minimum of two top centre backs and two wing-backs.

I'm the same. But trying to be as rational as I can, he's still a very young lad from a less than glamorous upbringing who has been thrust into a financial situation he probably has no idea how to handle. There will be agents and potentially even family guiding the boy and pointing to John Kennedy as a prime example of what can happen.

I don't believe for a second he was showing ingenuity about his love and commitment to us, but there are so many personal factors that come into it and things change when there's a genuine life changing offer being made to you.

Gutted if he goes, in fact that's an understatement.
There are some things money just can't buy, being a Celtic legend is one of them. Priceless .
All the millions of EPL money cannot buy that.
Instead of being talked about in the same breath as McGrain and Gemmell, he will be in the same breath as Macari.

Sad day when we lose a " Celtic daft" player from a heartland like lanarkshire at the earliest opportunity.

We will survive but it leaves a bad taste. Good luck KT you could a been a contender.

I think it's more likely that we'll try three at the back rather than spend a significant sum to replace Tierney (to the extent that we'd be able to replace him). Hopefully I'm just on a downer but the inclination we have is to squirrel away transfer fees rather than reinvest back into the team.

On an unrelated note, this sends a signal to other players that they can leave whenever they fancy it. If I was Dembele or in his camp, I'd be putting out feelers right now.
