Correct, PL and the board wouldnt be doing their job if they kicked out bids of over 20m+ for our players.

The final call will be with KT, but the board have to accept bids that meet or exceed our valuations.
We don’t have to or need to accept any bid for,in my opinion, our best player. If we were offered £40M for Tierney I would knock it back and obviously tell Tierney we had knocked it back then the ball would be in Tierney court whether he would want to leave or not.Ovbiously if he said he wanted to leave then of course that changes things as it would be stupid to keep an unhappy player. For celtic we make more money from getting into the champions league group stages than selling players and if we sell our best players we’re less likely to get into the group stages. We could keep him for 4 yrs and then probably sell him for more money than we would get for him now.It would also make Rodgers less likely to stay.Even domestically sevco are spending money so they will probably be stronger than last season and although I doubt they’ll challenge us it would be complacent to sell our best player.
Celtic is a business in the football industry. If they are offered wild money for one of their assets they are duty bound to think very very seriously about it. KT is an asset. If he suffers a career ending injury he ceases to be. The club knows that. The player knows that. I don't believe the club will force him out but if the money is right they will ask the question. They would be remiss not to.

Football is not like any other business. If we were £20M in debt but won the champions league and think that would be more successful than winning nothing and having £20M in the bank. For me it’s all about winning trophies within our budget.I also think selling Tierney would be a false economy. We’ve got a waiting list for season tickets for the first time in yrs,we’ve won back to back trebles we’ve qualified for 2 CL group stages. We are in a position to strengthen our team not to weaken it.

Is Kieran Tierney a money grabber who couldn't wait to leave Celtic, like Van Dijk et al.? The old tried and tested excuses folk have used since Peter Lawwell walked in the door cannot be applied to Tierney, so they are coming out with desperate scenarios to convince themselves that the board's ambitions stretch beyond just winning the SPL and seeing what happens in the qualifiers.
Can you clarify what you actually think is going on with Tierney then?
In my opinion, Everton have notified Celtic of their interest in Tierney and rather than putting up a fight like any other club does for their key players we've told him he's free to speak with them - which'll in turn put ideas in his head, and probably be a bit of a slap in the face to him.

Unless things have changed recently, I think clubs who do well in Europe carry a certain amount of debt. We're on about a 60million swing since we last done well in that arena.

If Tierney goes to Wolves he's flipped his lid.
or wants to bump up his bank balance?

Exactly. Its not like any other business where profit comes first. If it was then we should sell half our team.We weren’t qualifying for the CL group stages now we have done that 2/2 under Brendan so I want to strengthen so we compete a bit better in Europe and we can strengthen without the need to see our top players,if I’m allowed to call Tierney a top player!

I don't know about Tierney being our best player or our most valuable asset but at this moment he is the one player l would say we don't want to lose. We already require cover for him, never mind him going. Miller isn't good enough.

How could he deny rumours that everton are "preparing" a bid?

The rumours more being he's prepared to leave. :ffs:

Then again, wouldn't be the first time a player has said all the right things then left shortly after.

Point being his silence over the issue is leaning me towards thinking this isn't just paper talk.

Won't get into who is our best player, but KT has got to be among the best young players we've had in decades. He brings excitement with his pace and overlapping runs, his inviting cutbacks from the byeline, and his own quite dynamic shooting ability. There is room for improvement though and I think he is in the best place and under the right manager for that. For that reason and his own affection for the club, I think he will stay put for another couple of years.

There's no point in KT commenting about what is only media speculation.
Until someone makes him an actual offer, he doesn't need to have an opinion about it.
