People are going to some great lengths to shift the blame away from the board. Tierney could break his leg half a year into his Everton contract, so surely he should be pushing for a move to a mega-bucks Chinese team?
I'm not PL's biggest fan but how are they to blame for this ?

If they get a bid of £30M and they say to the player its up to you if you want to move, then IMHO they are being fair. It would be one thing if they were actively looking for the move but in this case I suspect they aren't.

What is worrying is the lack of strengthening going on elsewhere. If we were to lose Tierney - irrespective of how much we get for him - it will be a blow.

The fact that there doesn't appear to be much happening on the horizon vis a vis right back and centre half (never mind finding a new left back) makes it even worse.
Correct, PL and the board wouldnt be doing their job if they kicked out bids of over 20m+ for our players.

The final call will be with KT, but the board have to accept bids that meet or exceed our valuations.

So what is the point in being in tip top shape financially if we aren't willing to put up a fight to retain our best players, let alone the best home grown talent in a generation.

If he want to leave then that's another thing but after signing a 6 year deal recently I'd have expected better from a player supporter particularly on the verge of the 10 and 55.

Didn't we go through this last summer and winter with Dembele? Are there people in our club actively leaking stuff in the hope that our players move on?
From reading here it seems that the club are not the issue here but it is the player himself who is forcing the move.

It was only just in April that he said himself he was here for the long term. Until there's something official to contradict that, I'll assume he'll be here next season and the season after
Maybe he will be joining Paddy at Everton?

How exactly are the board to blame? :ponder:
Is Kieran Tierney a money grabber who couldn't wait to leave Celtic, like Van Dijk et al.? The old tried and tested excuses folk have used since Peter Lawwell walked in the door cannot be applied to Tierney, so they are coming out with desperate scenarios to convince themselves that the board's ambitions stretch beyond just winning the SPL and seeing what happens in the qualifiers.
Can you clarify what you actually think is going on with Tierney then?

Not sure but it will certainly involve the Chinese.

Lad who told me Paddy wouldn't be signing permanently during his first spell here. For which I got roundly pilloried.

He's involved with Man City though, so not sure how he knows of an impending bid from Wolves...

Funny enough I was talking to an Everton fan who said to watch out for Wolves, he didn't mention a bid for Tierney though.

So the board have sold him have they?

I've missed that.

Ergo, Robertson is the better player just now. Glad you agree.
What a load of scheidt. Robertson cannot defend without using his hands. In fact, he defends like a rugby full back. His first instinct is to reach for the forward and try to grab him. He got lucky in the CL tie against City when he hauled Sterling down twice and got away with both. He will always be a hostage to refereeing fortune.

He's a grand little player going forward but couldn't tackle a fish supper and has no positional awareness. He charges forward whenever Liverpool attack and I expect a number of teams to suss that out next season. I like him and I'm sorry we let him go but as a footballer he's not in KT's class.
He can't tackle? What do you call that last minute challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo in the 18 yard box in the CL final? You know - the one where he ran half the length of the park? A sheer fluke?

I watch Liverpool most weeks. To say that Robertson can't tackle and is a rubbish defender is just bonkers.

As I said before. We can only really judge Tierney v Robertson when they are both playing at a high level week-in week-out.

You mean a 'Jackie Mac' at Dundee United 'wee earner'? Surely not?
