Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
They don't even have to be that good. A result of the craziest transfer market in the world.

Read an article about Jack Rodwell and Sunderland this morning. It costs Sunderland £299,000 for every appearance :ffs:
Was this deal signed off by Sunderland CEO Martin Bain?
Not according to that article, no. Signing of Rodwell was seen as a coup but had effed by by the time Bain came in, and he seemingly inherited the mess. When they added the fee/wages, it worked out at £299,000 per game. Mad.

Lets not beat about the bush here..

Do certain people on here know that Kieran has asked to go?. . . .If the answer is no, they are doing a lot more harm than good to this situation by insinuating he has.
What do you think, reading between the lines of certain people's posts, such as "It's not them" when PL and/or BR were taking flak?
What do I think??

I think you've misunderstood my post.

I'm not asking what they think or what they are insinuating. I'm asking if they know for sure that Kieran has asked to go.

No. Lee Congerton(recognise the name?) and Margaret Byrn were in charge of footballing transfers and contracts at the time.

Can Celtic afford to have a £25m left back? I'm not sure we can. Tierney is a terrific young player and I'll be sorry to see him go but with smart reinvestment I'd hope we can improve the team overall with that kind of money even if it's very likely we will end up weaker in that one position.
I'm sure when Bale left Spurs and Suarez left Liverpool many of their fans thought great we can strengthen the whole side. Both did garbage as a result.

Rodgers told the Celtic top brass two years ago that the most you want to change your first team starters in one year is three, four at a push. Armstrong's gone, Roberts gone, Dembele likely to go, central defenders for the off. Now possibly Tierney ? That will mean a big big overhaul.

Tierney leaving - and I accept there maybe nowt we can do to stop it - is not good even at £25M given whats going on elsewhere in the team.
On the other hand, when McGeady left for £9m in August 2010 we signed:

Quote:

10 Anthony Stokes, £800,000 from Hibernian, Aug 2010 [BBC]
26 Fraser Forster, (loan) from Newcastle United, Aug 2010 [BBC]
03 Emilio Izaguirre, £600,000 from Motagua, Aug 2010 [BBC]
05 Daniel Majstorovic, free from AEK Athens, Aug 2010 [BBC]
33 Beram Kayal, undisclosed from Maccabi Haifa, Jul 2010 [BBC]
88 Gary Hooper, £2.4m from Scarrothorpe, Jul 2010 [BBC]
04 Efrain Juarez, undisclosed from UNAM Pumas, Jul 2010 [BBC]
27 Daryl Murphy, £1.5m from Sunderland, Jul 2010 [BBC]
16 Joe Ledley, free from Cardiff City, Jul 2010 [BBC]
11 Cha Du-Ri, free from SC Freiburg, Jul 2010 [BBC]
21 Charlie Mulgrew, free from Aberdeen, Jul 2010 [BBC]

And did we win the league ? How did we get on in Europe ?

Must be DD wanting him gone. KT doesn't want to go, PL and BR don't want him to go. This is an incredibly odd situation. Why is now the best time to sell after signing a 6 year deal, the market getting more mental by the year AND we have no other serious options at LB.

What would this supposed £25m be spent on?
The hotel

No effin way BR will get the £25m - £30m if KT is sold

Maximum £10m transfer budget would be my guess

It's the Celtic way

This is looking like quite a worrying window.

We're only a couple of weeks away from our first Champions League qualifier and in one weekend this story breaks and we have Brendan talking about how the club can't/won't afford to buy players who are better than we already have, how he has to rely on coaching to make the players we have better, etc. I'm not liking where this is going :twitch:

Would be surprised to see Tierney in a rush to leave so early in his career. But folk who were expecting him to spend his entire career here and watch teammate after teammate leave for the EPL and a quadrupling of their wages were living in a fantasy world.

majority would go into the football budget. probably used as much on the wage bill as fees though

i was happy with that as was getting worried we wouldnt be going for another attacking player

Had a look on an Everton forum. Some thinking 25M won't get him.

Some poster reckons they'd sniffed around last December and he was up for it. Didn't look as if it affected his game to be fair, if that was true.

Someone else thought he was on 15k per week with us (quoting Celtic forums). If that's the case, I'd be surprised at that, even if he is still young.

Brendan talks an awful lot. Sometimes I wish he'd clamp it.

If KT is going we're at the stage of needing 5 players. We've got CL games in about 9 days.

Well, no. But up against EBT united in its death throes.

McGeady investment laid foundations of this march to 10 tho.

Couple of other things that might/might not be factors:

- maybe he doesn’t fancy playing in a back three
- seeing Andy Robertson playing in the CL final
Naw just naw. The European Cup Final thing is pure daftness. Even if he was moving to Man U or City it is a long shot. Liverpool and Roberston's season was pretty flukey. Just like this World Cup is.
How was Liverpool’s season flukey? They have one of the best attacks in world football, they beat Man City (the top team in England) three times last season, and that was their second European final in three seasons. Every chance they’ll be there or thereabouts again next year.

It seems fairly obvious that’s what people have been told. Were any KDSers in the room where it happened? Eff knows, but it does seem to have a degree of plausibility.

It’s a rumour on the internet. It’s mileage may vary. If you want sources, you ain’t getting them on here.

If that's the case then, even if it's KT wanting out we could just keep him to his contact. Even for another year until we get a replacement. It'd be mental to let him go right now.

With Armstrong and Roberts already gone, and possibly Boyata and KT going too, BR has a helluva job just to replace the quality in last season's squad

Strengthen ? I am not convinced that will be achieved

We were out of Europe before the end of August - losing to the likes of Braga and Utrecht.

Its Rodgers - I am led to believe - who says that overhauling the first team like that is difficult. Probably based on his own experience with Suarez and the aftermath.
