I'm starting to think BR statement the other day was to prepare us for what's coming.

It's customary for buying clubs to notify potential sellers of a bid before they put it in. I think that might well have happened with Everton.

If the money's right, we'll take it. Steady people, this might be a tough few weeks.
My feelings as well. I was sure Kieran would be here at least for the ten until I read Brendan's interview.

I thought that too. I think KT has given indications he's open to a move

In saying that the exact same comments were made by BR about Dembele in Jan
If January is anything to go by, Brendan is telling KT he's ready for him to move.

The nefarious press trying to bring down Celtic thing is a flat out bad take here
Exactly. We bang on about how great Tierney is, and how he could go to the very top. If that’s the case then of course rich clubs are going to offer big money for him.

The club will have a value that they would accept, and atvghatvstage its up to the player. Haven’t a clue if £25m is an acceptable number, but if it isn’t then people should really expect other bigger offers to come in.

No point blaming the media for reporting this.

I don't see the attraction of Everton other than money. Be a bit disappointed if he ends up there.
There will be better clubs than Everton interested.
Genuine question - who was the last player to go from the Scottish Premiership direct to play at a top six English club ?

Aye.

Embarrassing that anyone has seriously posted a) the big bad press are unsettling Celtic, & 2) this wouldn't be reported if it were Sevco.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Genuine question - who was the last player to go from the Scottish Premiership direct to play at a top six English club ?

Petrov?
Aston Villa finished 16th in 2005-6 and 11th 2006-7. Petrov signed in 2007 and Cuellar signed in 2008. Midtable strugglers when they signed.

Hutton signed for Spurs in January 2008. They finished 8th that season. but probably the last player from Scotland to go to a major English club.

Youngsters aside (thon kid from Rangers Glimour went to Chelsea this season) I'd have said Alan Hutton.

Feruz never played for Chelsea did he ?

Hutton to Spurs might be a good shout, but that must have been 10 years ago

Those CL humpings and constant failure to strengthen the defence coming back to haunt us. Thought at the time that it would be people like Dembele who might no't be keen to go through a third year of spankings, never really considered Tierney as I was certain he'd be here for the 10.

Guess making a million in 6 months rather than a year is bound to turn the head of a young player, ultras leader-aff or not. Maybe he can get a loan of Lou Macari's tammy that he used to keep in his jacket pocket when Man U played us in friendlies.

Can Celtic afford to have a £25m left back? I'm not sure we can. Tierney is a terrific young player and I'll be sorry to see him go but with smart reinvestment I'd hope we can improve the team overall with that kind of money even if it's very likely we will end up weaker in that one position.
