I didn't mean short careers in terms of "poor guys they never make any money." I meant it in the sense that if they have talent, then like it or not they can earn a fair wedge. We can argue all day about the relative pay scales of footballers versus for example, nurses but this is the world we inhabit.

The trouble for a footballer is that an injury can end a career in a split second. You might be the greatest talent around but if you get a career ending injury then it's over and there's a lot of years ahead. This is why I said "he needs to look out for himself".
That makes more sense. I also thought you were talking about potential earnings

"-insert Celtic player- To Be Scouted By -insert big team/any EPL dross- At -insert our next big game-"

This is the headline generator all the red tops use to get readers in.

He's here for 10IAR at least.
Yes, but some of them are true.
And some people have a good idea of the occasional ones that are true.

When it comes to the end of a season the transfer talk( aka summer boredom and amusement at times) for next season is generally of interest (see Transfer threads) but feck it if it is "one of our own" being mentioned it is made up red top distraction to try and upset Celtic before the Cup Final.

Tierney will have hee haw interest in Bournemouth nor at this point in time Atletico Madrid but somewhere down the line after the Ten (all being well) he will begin to consider serious options as and when they arise which they will.

Jeez!!! The very high probability/borderline certainty of Brendan and high possibility of Kieran being :Bye: :Bye: at the same time will be something else on in terms of Kds meltdowns. :( :)

He's 20, plenty of time to go abroad if he wishes but it won't be to the 1st big club to show interest. Apparently some people actually like playing for Celtic.
He may be only 20 but he needs to look out for himself as it's a short life in football. Who knows what damage he could sustain in his next game?
Unless this report is some sort of pre-Cup psy-ops, it wouldn't surprise me if it was true. KT would be crazy not to consider it. We only have to think of what happened to John Kennedy. We'll never know for sure how his career would have turned out, but he was always mentioned as future Celtic and Scotland captain.
Aye and if John Kennedy has been playing for Atletico at the time he’d have been left on his arse to rot.
I think the problem for a lot of people is actually being unable to properly relate to Tierneys support of the club.

I was absolutely talking about his potential earnings which could disappear like snow off a dyke for all he knows. Like most things in life there are long term and short term considerations when making a decision.

Remember when it used to be just SMSM that talked players out the club?
Not really, no. Assuming you mean “talking about players possibly leaving”.

All getting a bit ridiculous - I can guarantee you if and when Kieran Tierney leaves Celtic it will have feck all to do with the media, any Celtic Supporters (excepting maybe his family) and certainly not any message board. :ph43r:

I suspect he’s referring to the seemingly increasing tendency of forum-types to dimwittedly regurgitate tabloid drivel, creating a dynamic of pish, waffle and bawbaggery that mutates the initial tabloid guff into FACT. They witter on to the extent they appear to actually will whatever it is to happen; hence “talked players out the club”. But you really knew that, didn’t you...🤓

Normally, I wouldn't buy it either. Paper talk is paper talk. But in my experience, the BBC only really post something on their main webpage when there is something there to report. They must have assurances from sources that Atletico are going to be there to scout KT. It's hardly people just trying to grab morning headlines.

There’s nothing new in the world mate. Everything on here has been said by Celtic supporters throughout my lifetime and yours, only instead of the 100 guys in the supporters club it’s 1,000 people online.

No-one has said anything about KT that wasn’t said about Paul McStay in the Holy Blessed 1990’s. There were probably more people back then who wanted McStay to go for the sake of his career than there are KDSers wanting KT to go.

Discussing the possibility of any player leaving isn’t actually talking them out the club, nor is it turning tabloid guff into FACT. It’s not meant to be taken seriously, there are literally no real-world consequences of any posts in this thread. People are just shooting the breeze until we can get out into the sun (nice shades BTW).

In terms of transfers he’s right. BBC sport are pretty much gospel when it comes to stuff like that. They wouldnt publish something on heresay or rumour and when it comes to believability they’ve much more credibility than the likes of sky sports or any tabloid

Tierney says he's happy at Celtic and not even thought in the slightest about moving. Says he's like to be here for life but that you never know with football.

It’s only a surprise that scouts watching Tierney would be newsworthy. There have been scouts watching him every game for the last two years at least.
Left backs are scarce , really promising young left backs are like hens teeth.

Maybe because they've lots of money and they will pay for our entire transfer budget with one buy of one of our players?

KIERAN TIERNEY has revealed he could happily spend his entire career at Celtic.

The 20-year-old international defender, who is under contract to 2023, has been linked with Europa Cup winners Atletico Madrid this week as well as top-flight English sides throughout the season.

But Tierney said: “I’ve never thought about elsewhere yet, in my life. It’s just been Celtic since the age of seven.

“I’ve never even been on trial with an another team. I was at my local Boys’ Club then moved to Celtic at seven.

“Can I see myself being here all my career? Yes, I can. But, you never know in football.

“I’ve never thought about being away from Celtic. Maybe one day it will happen.”

Tierney is not fazed by Atletico’s interest and insisted it will only help as he prepares to face Motherwell in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden on Saturday.

He said: “It’s a kind of confidence-booster in a way to know that you’ve put the hard work in and massive teams all over Europe are noticing it.

“It’s flattering for teams like that to be interested.”
