Long summer ....
It will be a lot more than a long summer tbf - This will roll on until the day he finally leaves which unless he gets offered a real genuine Big Gun offer* won't be until we have God willing achieved the 10.

*Kieran in reality is still a fair bit away from that level imo and I know people will fire up Robertson as a case in point to counter that opinion but that is my take on where Kieran is at at this stage of his career.
Robertson wouldn't be of interest to Athletico as his defensive abilities are lacking. On the flip side, Liverpool probably wouldn't be interested in KT as he's not as effective going forward as Robertson currently is. Both really good players, but they have different strengths.

I'm not buying that KT will stay at Celtic at all costs. This isn't Bournemouth we're talking about here. Atletico are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. They regularly compete in European finals and have one of the best defensive sets ups on the continent. Opportunities like that don't come around for Scottish players all that often. As much as he's a fan of our club, that'd be enough to turn the head of anyone with a sense of ambition about them.

I certainly think so. This season, they've conceded 20 goals in La Liga. By comparison, Real Madrid have conceded 42. Last season, they conceded 27 and they year before, it was 18. That's about 1 goal every 2 games. That's an exceptional defensive record for one of the toughest leagues in Europe.

I disagree - they're about to lose about half of their best players and with that in mind, the manager might choose this time as the best to jump ship so that he's not around to see their (relative) decline. The new stadium might give them lots of new income, but it might limit their transfers if it needs paid for.

By my reckoning, a lot of their key players are close to retirement or close to moving on. Except Koke

Jan Oblak : possibly sold. Linked to PSG & the EPL among others
Gabi 34
Griezmann: possibly sold - pretty strong rumours with the EPL or Barcelona
Koke 26
Godin 32
Filipe Luís 32
Diego Costa 29
Juanfran 33
Kevin Gameiro 31
Torres : definitely offski

Being in the shadow of Real and Barca probably takes shine away from their record. Top (maybe not a super) club in the world's top league.

People constantly underestimate how big a fan KT is. 1 game away from making more history and 3 seasons away from the biggest consecutive league winning run in Scottish football history, "aye but Atletico get to CL Finals", eff them, no way will KT walk away before the ten.

He's 20, plenty of time to go abroad if he wishes but it won't be to the 1st big club to show interest. Apparently some people actually like playing for Celtic.

Only about three of them on your list are key players for them now. Simeone has brought in a number of younger players the past couple of seasons and will continue to rebuild the squad.

Any 20 year old Scottish footballer who gets offered big money from a top European side with the chance to test themselves at the very top level is going to give it serious consideration.

Aye, it's fine. I just don't think they're that up there.

He'd be joining Aberdeen in Spain.

Maybe my view is clouded by the fact they're a shower of carrots.

At some point, of course, right now? No chance. Would you move away before the 10 if you were in the same position?

Do people actually ever watch Robertson, his final ball is terrible. Tierney is better in both departments IMO.

None of us really knows what it would take for Tierney to leave

My take off it is that it would have to be big enough club (Atletico fits that) and that it would be to a club where he was certain to be the nr 1 left back (Atletico doesn't fit that with both Felipe, Lucas and even Thomas being able to play left back) - I think that Tierney is clever enough to avoid going to a club where he would be on the bench 4/5 matches. Tierney is a winner, you don't win by sitting on the bench

Hmmm, 5 of them have played 30+ league games this season. Appearances now added and players who have played as much as that list added below. Pretty much incontrovertible that I listed half the team at my first effort. The rest of their squad have played less than Filipe Luís' 19 league games so I'd struggle to make an argument that I've missed any key players

Angel Correa (M) 36
Saul Niguez (M) 35

He wants to be captain of Celtic but I’m in no doubt he’d be tempted by the right offer from the right club. I’d be gutted to see him go but he’s definitely someone that deserves to play at the highest level.

Firstly do we have an historically massive game this week or something?

Secondly, is there a remote possibility that Motherwell players may be being scouted also?

It works both ways. People constantly over-estimate how much supporting a team impacts a professional footballer’s career.

I think he’ll want to hang around for 10, but if one of the top clubs in the top leagues (and that’s what Atletico currently are) come in offering a huge wage rise, he’d be mental not to consider it.

Yes.

And not by Atletico Madrid.
