Its absolutely depressing that there are folk on a Celtic forum that just can't accept a Celtic fan might just want to stay at Celtic.

Reeks of an inferiority complex.

Amazed might be pushing it.
We need to do better if we're to keep our best players & management team.

He needs someone to push him on & also give him a rest, Miller isn't that guy.
Robertson has done brilliant at Liverpool, up against Moreno etc - KT must be looking at that example & see how much a competitive environment can push someone to higher levels - not to mention the competition in the League & the money/exposure.

He absolutely LOVES Celtic, but I wouldn't take him for granted - or expect him to stay just because he's a fan.

We've got Ajer, NtCham & Dembele who could go onto a much higher level given time. McGregor, Armstrong & Rogic might get good gigs, but if we're expecting a player like KT to hang around for 4 years+, we really need to give him more reasons to stay & generally that means better team-mates.

Don't know if Bournemouth would give him that, but he's not far off having his loyalty severely tested by an £PL top 6 club and that's definitely something he would consider?
Mate, he's Celtic through and through. Will he fancy a move away somewhere down the line? Maybe, it won't be any time soon though. The kids living the dream, absolute throwback to when we had players who would run through brick walls for Celtic, in the crowd when he has a weekend off, at supporters clubs in Tenerife in the Centenary top when he's on his hols and in front of the GB after games with a megaphone. eff the EPL, it might take people a while to digest but going to England isn't the be all and end all. The past few years of selling our best players has given people a certain mindset, understandably, but things change
Just seems a tad simplistic, dare I say juvenile.
Ok at 19, 20 or whatever, but when he sees guys he knows playing in CL finals it'll surely turn his head?
That's all i'm saying, he'll obviously always be a fan.

When you see how will Robertson is doing at Liverpool then you wonder how good Tierney could become. I personally don't see him improving that much at Celtic and so for his sake I think he'll leave. I think he'll want to be here for the ten but after that I think he'll go.

Yeah ok then.

He will always love Celtic, doesn't mean he can't be ambitious too.

It's all good, BUT I can't see him staying if we don't seriously up our game.
KT & Ajer are the best players in our back 5 - they need serious help to improve further (obviously not going to happen with Compper, Boyata etc) & they'd be well within their rights to question their development - especially when looking at Robertson, VvD, Wanyama etc...

Some weirdos would probably disown him if he signed for ManUtd :ph43r:

As a Celtic fan, Celtic is as good as it gets, as a professional he may fancy something new at some point.

He'll want the arm band before that though

Reeks of an inferiority complex.
By the same token, it’s a bit naive for football supporters to suggest that a player will stay at a club their whole career just because they support that team.

Not every player who supports the team openly talks about the possibility of becoming a one club man though.

Yet that's still not enough for folk to have a little belief.

Tierney has just signed a new contract and is getting £16k a week. Robertson is getting £60 k a week. Just saying that he may wish to make himself and his family financially secure for the rest of their lives.

Which is basically what Brendan said in regards to Tierney a few days ago. He's obviously a Celtic man, that's obvious. But a career in football is short. He's not short of a few Bob by any means. But there's a level of comfort and professional competition that we can't offer him.

I wish we had a team full of Teirney's for the record. If he does go, we'll be compensated very handsomely for it. Could make him leaving a little easier to stomach knowing that we could get 4 or 5 key players for the cash.

I’m sure he believed that when he said it. He might still believe it. And I don’t think he’s in any rush to leave.

But footballers tend to go to the biggest leagues/most money that their talent merits, irrespective of how much they love any particular team.

It’s naive to think KT is any different. Burns, McStay, Larsson all sat at the table and negotiated an acceptable salary for their work. They all walked in there with the threat of leaving too. Every player does it, it’s never just about supporting the team.

If I was Tierney, I’d stay for 10 then go and sign the biggest money 4 year contract I could get. I’d tell Celtic I’d come back on a Bosman at the end of it. Away at 23 and back at 27 minted and still with a few years left in me.

After making around £3m at Celtic (minimum) he is 23 and can go and demand his 60k a week anywhere he desires.

Himself and his family will be well catered for.

6 years at 16k a week is more money than you'd earn in a 40 year career on £100,000 a year

Yet you are on about financial security for his family. Get real.
