105% tackle success rate. The wee man would run through a brick wall for celtic. If he gets his first goal vs huns i genuinely think he'd explode
How can you win 5% more tackles than you make?
I know he's good but he's not that good
Takes after that great Russian full back, Stakhanovite with his work rate.

If we could get £10m for him, his bags will be packed, whether he wants to go or not.
Teams like Man City and Chelsea love to sign players at 18/19 and then loan them out for a number of years rather than buy someone at 23/24...

There was a Man City scout at the game on Saturday, hopfully checking up on Roberts, but just as easily checking out one of the best young talents in the UK. They have already snapped up the likes of Roberts for £11millon and loaned him out. if they though Tierney was likely to develop into a top player (And he looks very much like he will) Man City would happily pick him up just now. :Bye:

Least if its Man City who buy him we have a chance of getting him on loan :chuffed:

At least Tierney seems level headed enought to know that what ever he does he will do it for the righ reason and not just money.

Left back is a difficult position for anyone to fill, not just us.

Even the top, top teams are filled with left backs who love going forward but are dodgy at the back. Tierney's dedication and natural instinct to defending is rare and puts him at a premium as most managers will believe they can coach the attacking side into his game.

For some reason left-backs seem more culpable than right backs. The phrase 'wand of a left foot' is probably to blame.

I think we're lucky in the sense that his game going forward is still a bit weak - particularly his distribution - for one of the big guns to spend big money. We'll be able to enjoy him for a few more years yet.

My worry is that when he starts to fill out and gets stronger and faster, he'll start getting more attention.

Start worrying now I'd say, despite any criticisms he's the best left back we have had in many years and he'll be getting watched by every club who knows Wanyama, Forster and van Dijk played for us. Some clubs won't sit and wait before bidding, Paddy Roberts might be a decent example of talent identified, a fortune paid followed by a Loan spell., the thought of paying 10m for a lad not fully developed won't phase many EPL teams now never mind Liverpool.

Hopefully he wants to do something with the club and develop further before picking the right option at a later date but if the money reaches a certain point and considering all the variables a football career can offer then he will go.

I think he would be happy playing a few seasons with us before being tempted down south playing for an English clubs reserves. To me it would be a false economy taking £10m now when if he continues developing at the rate he is then he could stay with us for 3 or 4 seasons and we would then get even more from selling him.He could also make the difference between us qualifying for the CL,which would be worth £15m.Also how many £1m or £2m left backs would be buy to try to replace him?

If he stays you''l probably get less though you might get more, this is where it becomes interesting and unpredictable.

How much will he be worth means very little, how much is he worth and how can we shape him in to our ways and culture means a lot more. Players are like the News, they are interesting for a while but the longer the story goes everyone settles down, you stop hearing their name so much then the selling club misses the boat as the player gets injured, loses form or misses out on the big move and grows stale.

It's a fluid situation to say the least, how much would we have got for Lustig after a year, how much would you get now?

I can't see us getting much more than £10m for any player we are going to sell, even in a few years time. The money in the English game is rising all the time and we're stagnating/regressing. £10m is our whack.

We got £12M for VVD. Every other country in the world will be upping their prices so why shouldn't we do exactly the same? If he continues in the way he is then we will get more than £10M.

In the same way that you can win a game without having a single shot. The opposition just give him the ball through fear.

The 9-0 humping we gave the sheep years ago, we managed 8 shots on target but 9 goals!
The OG didn't count as a shot for us

But then it wouldn't be a tackle and wouldn't be relevant to the stat

Its an absolute myth Tierneys distribution is poor, if he gets an opportunity in the last third most of the time his final ball for an 18 year old is excellent. He also does what a defender is paid to do and thats defend first and foremost. He isnt scared to dish it out and isnt scared to give others a rollicking either. If wed paid a few million for him wed be raving about him

Would take a quarter of that :ph43r:
Would be more realistic, I was of course being facetious.

Heard thar sum often enough, Wanyama, van Dijk, and latterly, Bitton.

:brickwall:

As am I

We should've got £20m for Wanyama but don't think we could've justified it on VVD. I personally just dont really like Bitton as he disappears when he's needed and is a coward who tries to get himself sent off.

Some of the criticism of his distribution is over the top but he does need to cut out the aimless punts down the channel instead of trying to find a man. He is only 18 so im sure he will grow out of it and become an excellent player

The ref considers it a tackle - mainly through fear

I don't believe that's true at all tbh - I think the club and the player will be happy for him to stay where he is and keep developing. The difference between him and the likes of Van Dijk and Wanyama is that they came to Celtic in the first place to use it as a stepping stone to England. No need to sell - he's only going to get better.
