Like the guy. Any chance he could opt for Ireland? We could do with a left back.
That's a thought. You'd think with his name alone we might be able to bull-shampoo a passport.
Doubt that very much
isle of man, so he can play for any of them surely?

edit: His Schooling was in Scotland, so he probably cant actually

I see he's getting a lot of praise after yesterday. Honestly didn't think he was that good.

He has some good qualities but his reluctance to carry the ball forward and just stand still needs to change.

I worry that he's in danger of being overhyped. People shound't expect too much of him at 18 and I think the massive amounts of (in this case, imo, unwarranted) praise he's getting could hurt him.

I'd rather we had defenders who can defend.

Anything else is a bonus.

Maybe, but we play with attacking fullbacks. Need to be able to do both.

Teirney is alright when taking on a man, but my point is that he needs to be better on the ball. He seems too keen to launch it or just pass back to where it came. To be fair though he's very young so I expect this to change.

He is decent in the tackle and is doing a good job ,he is a young lad
with a lot to learn but for me the signs are good .

I'm stuck between two trains of thought with Tierney. I can't figure out that if you don't notice him much is that him being average or really good because of his age. I'm leaning towards the second opinion but I'm not entirely sure. The best thing that can be said of him is that he is pretty steady in his performances & I guess that is more impressive than it sounds or even looks at times.

I like him and it's a breath of fresh air seeing a young player coming through, especially from the academy. Saying that, at the risk of burning him out I'd bring Izzy back in for the next few games.

Young kids need at least a good couple of seasons to fully bed into being top level professional players. People shouldn't and can't put the same level of game by game expectation on a youth player as a 26 year old star player. He's doing very well and he should keep alternating with Izzy for the foreseeable future.

He has composure in spades, a really good tackle, superb strength and timing therein. He is a great prospect at 18.

He can work on not being as static when he receives the ball and his stamina remains suspect, I thought he struggled last half hour again yesterday in this respect but a really good first 45 in particular. Modern full backs need stamina though, he can work on that.

I think he is going to be one of the best full backs to come thro' our ranks and yesterday I thought he had been singled out by Mc lean in particular for some rough treatment which he handled very well indeed.

Great in the tackle, good going forward, better crosses than Izzy, needs stamina and a wee bit more composure sometimes, not always just sometimes. Passing back is better than losing the ball so I do not get that argument. Brilliant wee player.

He looks better with every game, far more reliable than Izaguirre. Still a lot to learn, but he is a real prospect. Some comments about him not being that great going forward, I would rather have a fullback who is sound defensively and not so great attacking-wise rather than the other way around. Both is better, obviously, but defending is the main concern.

As others have stated - the bhoy is a genuine prospect but that's all
He should be nurtured carefully or he will be over played which could set him back or even worse ruin him!
Again as others have said he should have been taken off after an hour yesterday.
Its a delicate balance for sure but playing the bhoy when he's struggling physically could get him injured!

My thoughts exactly, he is there to defend firstly, then he can learn how to ghost past players and put in magical crosses. He rarely lets a man get by him unlike Izzy
