Maybe we could just hope that he stays rather than worrying about what's the best move for his career, the international team, or how many squillions we might get for him?
the first and the third can gtf, but i'd like to see him doing what's best for celtic and scotland. which is playing on the left for both. I'm not bothered about him playing for Scotland as long as it doesn't impact his Celtic career. Unfortunately a World Cup qualification might hinder his CL preparation.

Kris Commons on BBC Sportsound tonight was convinced Kieran won't be with us next season. He then continued by blethering on about us needing a strong "Rangers." It was quite spectacular in its inaccuracy.

Brendan Rodgers rates Kieran Tierney as one of the best three full-backs in British football. The Celtic youngster marked a new six-year contract extension by quelling the threat of Bayern Munich’s Dutch superstar Arjen Robben. Describing the 20-year-old as a ‘special talent’, Rodgers expressed delight the Parkhead club have managed to tie down a coveted asset until 2023. ‘I’ve worked with who I consider to be the two best full-backs in Britain, Danny Rose at Watford and Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea,’ said Rodgers. ‘Kieran is right up there with those boys. ‘He’s still very young, still has bits of improvement to make, but his quality, his will and determination and his focus for a young player is outstanding. ‘He loves playing at Celtic. Nights like Bayern you can see why he wanted to sign here. He’s a special talent - but a boy that’s very focused on improving.’ Most of England’s top clubs have been linked with a move for the Scotland left-back, with Tottenham the latest to run checks after Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal also showed interest. In a Celtic statement confirming news of his second new contract in a year, however, Tierney confessed to ‘living the dream’ at Parkhead. A lifelong fan of the club, the Wishaw-raised defender still lives at home and shows no inclination to leave a Celtic side making strides under the stewardship of Rodgers. ‘It helps that Kieran wants to be here and he knows he is developing,’ said the manager. ‘He knows he’s in a place and an environment where he knows he’s improving. ‘You saw against Bayern how he’s improving with how he’s being asked to play in Europe. ‘If he ever goes in the future, he knows when he leaves here, he’s playing the game tactically and technically at the top level. ‘But at this moment, he’s 20, he’s loving his development here and he’s Celtic daft. ‘The last ones you saw like that are the likes of Tommy Burns, or Peter Grant. He’s so passionate about it. ‘But the most important thing is that he and his family see the development and he’s still in that cycle of learning. ‘He’s developing at the moment into a brilliant player. ‘The contract is a sign and a symbol of the improvement he has made in a year.’ Explaining why Celtic felt the need to hand the defender another pay rise just a year after he signed his last extended deal, Rodgers said: ‘Over the course of a year, we feel there has been big improvement in him, so you want to reward that. ‘He had three and a half years left anyway, so it’s an extension of two and a half to take him through to that length of time. ‘It’s just recognition for how well he’s progressed and puts him on a level of salary where he feels he is working well and getting the rewards for it. ‘That’s important. I said when I came in I like to reward players who are doing well and he really deserves it.’ Asked if the negotiations were quick and easy, the Celtic boss joked: ‘Oh no, he’ s tight as a dead heat… ‘Seriously, he’s a great kid.’ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/Rodgers-Kieran-Tierney

KIERAN Tierney is a “special player” who shows the same passion towards playing for Celtic jersey once exhibited by Tommy Burns or Peter Grant. That is the opinion of Brendan Rodgers, about a 20-year-old left-back who reaped the rewards of a stellar year with a bumper contract extension on the eve of the match which will take him right through to the summer of 2023. Whether Tierney goes onto spend as much of the best year of his career at Parkhead as Burns and Grant, Rodgers ardently hopes the personal development shown against the likes of Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben on Champions League duty in midweek will persuade him that his long-term future continues to be at Parkhead. “He is a really special player,” said Rodgers. “First and foremost, he is a defender. But for 20 years of age, to play with that composure. "It helps that Kieran wants to be here and knows he is developing,” the Celtic manager added. “He knows he’s in a place and an environment where he knows he’s improving. “You saw against Bayern how he’s improving with how he’s being asked to play in Europe. If he ever goes in the future, he knows when he leaves here, he’s playing the game tactically and technically at the top level. “But at this moment, he’s 20, he’s loving his development here and he’s Celtic daft. You can see him in it. The last ones you saw like that are the likes of Tommy Burns, or Peter Grant. He’s so passionate about it. “But the most important thing is that he and his family see the development and he’s still in that cycle of learning. He’s developing at the moment into a brilliant player.” While it was Ronny Deila who first blooded this Isle of Man-born youngster in the first team, Brendan Rodgers has only been at Celtic for 17 months and has twice improved his terms and conditions. “The contract is a sign and a symbol of the improvement he has made in a year,” said Rodgers. “He signed a contract when I first came in, a new deal. Then over the course of a year, we feel there has been big improvement in him, so you want to reward that. “He had three and a half years left anyway, so it’s an extension of two and a half to take him through to that length of time. It’s just recognition for how well he’s progressed and puts him on a level of salary where he feels he is working well and getting the rewards for it. That’s important. I said when I came in I like to reward players who are doing well and he really deserves it. But he’s tight as a dead heat! Seriously, he’s a great kid.” http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/Tierney_is_a__quot_special_talent

I genuinely don't understand why any Celtic supporter who's good enough to play for Celtic would ever want to play for another team, so while I can easily understand Lawwell being happy to accept a big transfer fee the idea of Tierney ever agreeing a move elsewhere just seems bizarre to me. If it were me in that position I'd be aiming for Billy McNeill's all-time appearances record and probably Alec McNair's record as the club's oldest ever player too, I wouldn't even be thinking about moving to a club that I didn't give a shampoo about, regardless of how much more they might be able to pay me.

Absolutely, as long as we look after Keiran financially, he'll do his talking on the park If KT stays at Celtic for his entire career, he'll be a very wealthy man . Very wealthy.
His future depends on the ambitions of the club, and whether he feels they match his own. As long as we have a manager like BR, we can sleep easy.

As long as we have a manager like BR, we can sleep easy. That's my thinking. He could get more money playing for Man Utd or even some nonentity of a club that won the geographical lottery by being in England, but Celtic do still pay well by just about every other standard that can be contemplated, and in a few years time when he's captain of the team (something surely no-one doubts will happen if he does stay) he'll be earning plenty more than he is now.
You're right enough that the ambitions of the club and the manager will be crucial, but again I'd have played for Deila, I'd have played for Mowbray, I'd have played for Macari and I'd have played for Brady. Admittedly that probably wouldn't have been half as much fun as playing for the likes of a Rodgers or an O'Neill, but it's still playing for Celtic. Personally I wouldn't swap that for the world.

It would have to be serious mental money to even get us to the table.
How often do left backs as good as Tierney come round? There is a reason, so many clubs are looking at him. He is as good in attack as he is at defending, its very rare in an attacking full back these days.
I'd be disappointed it we even considered bits less than 30m and I hope we don't get any offers of that type anytime soon.

Double it. The way the market is now, we really need to start demanding these sort of fees.
With KT we are in a good position, he is happy playing for Celtic and won't sulk if we reject a decent offer, because we feel he is worth more.
As this may be the case, with some other players that are here simply to use Celtic as a stepping stone to a bigger stage.
edit - I should add I'd be more than happy if he signed up for life, and remained at Celtic his whole career.

Do any of the idiots on here saying that Kieran will go in January want the taxi fare to the asylum??
1. Kieren does not want to leave Celtic so no deal would ever go ahead just now. 2. If Kieran was forced out of the door just after signing a 6 year contract the fans would turn and Brendan would be off. Keep knocking down those strawmen brother.
