We'd waste the cash, I'd rather keep the player.

Me too, this is one of my major gripes in the last few years
How can we expect to get any kind of consistency when we constantly sell a player off as soon as someone comes sniffing around?
I know we will never be regularly spending millions on players but I'd at least like to see us show a little ambition and hold onto a decent player for a few seasons to try and keep the squad up to strength
Instead we drop our knickers the minute anybody down south gives us the eye and then try and buy a replacement for 1/8 of their value

I agree.

We will never build a decent team (particularly for Europe) unless we can guarantee that new/young players stay with us a minimum of three years (hopefully more). A reasonable outcome from Tierney would be that he stay with us for 4 or 5 years and leave when he is still young at, say 23, and we get a healthy fee for him.

What is the point of our best players being sold before they have made a real contribution to us? What would that say about Celtic as a club?

In this case I don't think Tierney will be going anywhere for a long time. But that won't stop the constant infantile articles such as 'Is KT good enough for the EPL', 'Does KT need to get out Scottish football to test himself'......you know the long list of rubbish that is served up. However it unsettles players and fans.

One small way to deflect it is for a semi official statement from Celtic (e.g. Ronny at a pre match conference) saying no way and a flippant remark that it would need £40million to buy such potential. Didn't MON price Agathe at something ridiculous, and Lennon priced one of his players way above what we thought?

Calm doon. KT ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Expect a new deal to be signed soon and if he keeps improving he might be offski in two or three years at the earliest.

I think this all goes back to Lennons first season when we failed to cash in on Kayal and Izaguirre (could probably add Forrest to that list too) when they were linked with moves to the EPL. Saying that, we don't even know if it's true and I doubt he'd even want to leave at this moment in time.

Boy has future celtic captain written all over him, wouldn't entertain any bids. These are the type of players we need to keep! And I can't see him wanting to leave anytime soon.

Feck off Southampton

Having a huge squad that cant qualify for the CL means we have to sell to balance the books.

If he leaves, he'd be shunted into somebody's under-age team. Ryan Gauld has wasted 2 years of his career by moving too early.

I'd just love to see us find a real young talent, bring him on and see what he can do for US!
I don't blame the players really (although it still pisses me off), it can be a very short career so big money is tempting and it is their livelihood after all
I just want the club to show a bit of ambition and a bit of resolve instead of chasing the almighty ££££
