I thought Brown was well off pace (so was the rest of our midfield) but everybody see's the game differently.

Also thought KT did not start great but grew into the game.

We are never to going to be at the current PSG level, therefore the team moves on.

Brown plays a completely different game in Europe. Domestically he sets the pace but in Europe he charges about as a headless chicken and his passing goes out the window, it's not the example we need at that level. If Brown isn't on his game, it's no wonder guys like Armstrong can go completely missing.
This is patently untrue. He plays a different game, sure but his passing doesn't go out the window. There are plenty of stats to back that up.

Stats are all good and well but the play goes through him so he's bound to make the most passes however I can't recall anyone else who plays the number of square balls out the park like he does

They're especially good and well in this case as they prove you to be incorrect. His passing in Europe is more often than not in the 90+% accuracy mark

He wasn't great on Tues, btw. I accept that. But his passing inEurope is more often than not very good.

That's clearly not true, the passing stats are there to see. There is another argument about whether he plays the safe option too often but what you are saying is patently and demonstrably untrue.

Sorry, but at the risk of being insulting, that is complete nonsense.
His passing does not "go out the window".He was the most accurate passer in our
team.He made two bad passes.one of which he fought and won back.
Please come up with another reason why guys like Armstrong can go completely missing.
Sorry to clog up the KT thread.

Passing stats are all well and good at showing that what you're saying is utter, utter nonsense.

Was Brown to blame for Armstrong's sloppy passing against England, too?

sums it up , Sinclair could drop back to help KT , but KT couldn't really get forward to help Sinclair because Mbappe only dropped back to the half way line when we attacked and would have been away like a whippet when the inevitable clearance came. Getting no help from Armstrong over there didn't help , he was a passenger.
team instructions - static tight back 4 relying on wingers/wide mid with little defensive nous to stall attacks. That would be bad enough but for those wingers to be covering an enormous area of the midfield was asking for trouble. A lesson in how to exhaust your front 6. The PSG transition from defence to midfield attack was swift, so the amount of ground that 2 players (already passed on each wing) have to cover is utterly ridiculous. Brendan is exceptional, but he's also exceptionally stubborn in his belief that the high press is "the way" to play football. Coupled with an exposed 433 against top opposition - just bewildering. There's a time to deploy the 433 when the opposition are likely to spill the ball, and a time to defend resolutely as a unit when PSG, Real Madrid or Barca roll into town knowing that they will exploit the high press and space behind.

I personally couldn't score him lower than 9.5 again this season for taking Celtic to CL, but a 10 is achievable if he would adapt according to opposition. He's got the brains and the psychology to achieve the remarkable. Apoel made the quarter finals in 11/12 with an average side and exceptional management which is one of the greatest achievements in European football of the last 20 years. A draw on Tuesday was possible if unlikely but to throw the doors open to a weakened defensive line was humiliating for them and the support.

I thought Tierney played well given the restrictions which loosened as the game progressed. Simunovic appeared to follow defensive instincts for the 2nd goal which marred his performance but again if those restrictions were not in place players would not be hesitant to move in to compensate for CBs doubling up in goalmouth situations. Ntcham looked like a fish out of water rather than funnelling back to cover but he made some impressive penetrating passes in the game which give me hope that this was just a managerial blip that the team will all learn from.

I think the u-12s remark was an error. I'd take the humiliating hit and admit I royally miscalculated.
Apoel did really well to make the QFs, but their group contained Donetsk, Zenit, and Porto.
That's a group that Last 16 qualification dreams are made of.
Good teams, but no tournament favourites.

Blaming Scott Brown for Stuart Armstrong's pishness the other night is a new one on me.

Did Brown shout him not to shoot as well?

I'm not one to put too much on stats as they can mislead and be manipulated. 1 pass to Griffiths and 1 to Roberts tells a story though. (Not just about Brown).
Lots of passes to defenders, they should all be accurate, where an attempted defence splitting pass at the other end will always be harder. Not that I can recall many of those from Tuesday. Not from our team anyway.

Thats a bit of a myth, Brown regularly scores high in pass completion in European games

Great game yesterday, at 1 point in the first half the Huns had us on the back foot until Tierney cleaned it their winger. Supported Sinclair going forward all day. Shame he can't shoot with his right peg though.

Could be wrong but I'm almost certain he has a goal with his right foot. Might have been Izzy, :ponder:
