His physique has changed over the summer which it probably needed to given the way he's been targeted - the comparison with bale may not be as far fetched as you'd think if he continues to put in the work he's obviously doing

He's far more Philip Lahm-esque than Gareth Bale
He's absolutely nothing like Gareth Bale ffs
I suspect the comparison relates to his raw talent being facilitated to the greatest degree by sports science, coaching and 100% commitment from the player - these have all transformed Bale, visibly apparent in his athletic physique.

Agree with this, if anything Tierney actually looks stronger than Bale at his age.

Or maybe the kits are just tighter these days?

What comparison with Bale?

He's developing. Their right winger caused him all sorts of problems last year. Tierney never gave home a sniff tonight. Another good defensive performance.

Seems to have an extra edge to his strength this year.

I know it sounds daft but it's funny to me that, as was pointed out at the game tonight, that he's been there longer than Brown. Is obvious when it got pointed out but still surreal. Thought it was funny that Lee Dixon was going mental over Alexander Arnold on STV there and being a little harsh of Tierney. Tierney is a much better player at the minute.

Boys an absolute star. So lucky hes come thru our youth system and is a Celtic bhoy as well. Mendy cost man city £52mil and KT is better than him.

There was a good bit where he'd taken a kick off someone, went and put them on the deck a few minutes later.

Hard as nails

He gets kicked a lot regardless of who we play. It's strange.

Noticed that. He gets kicked at every level we play at.
Opposition frustration?

Let's keep it that way. I'm sure players like to get recognition but the more English pundits talk about him, the more their teams will start looking at him.

To be fair, I watched those highlights and the criticism from John Collins seemed way wide of the mark to me; Collins was criticising him for hoofing it out when under pressure, rather than turning (under pressure) and playing it back to Gordon. FFS, has Collins not watched Craig Gordon play? A hoof out of play is a far better use of the ball than giving it to Gordon's feet! In Lee Dixon's defence, he said he thought that belting it out was good play. Can't please everyone, and think he acquitted himself very well last night. Hopefully puts to bed the 'he doesn't play well in Europe' line.

He's quite fond of skelping into a player as he makes a challenge on them, so maybe it's a bit of retaliation for that. Despite the good game, I thought some of his crossing was a little bit poor. He didn't always have 2 or 3 options to aim for but he hit the first defender or just put it into an empty space a few times. More than I'd normally expect of him. Still played well right enough but he's giving us high enough expectations that I'd love his crossing to be a constant threat.
