Game 81 for us tonight. I like to think his goal was a wee tribute to the 10.

KIERAN TIERNEY became Celtic’s youngest skipper and hit a 40-yard screamer — as Brendan Rodgers insisted he was BORN to lead.

KT was handed the armband against Kilmarnock with Scott Brown suspended.

Rodgers’ side thumped the Ayrshire men 5-0 — Leigh Griffiths netting twice with Anthony Ralston and Stuart Armstrong netting.

But the night belonged to Tierney, with Rodgers beaming: “Kieran got his worldy, it was an incredible strike, magnificent In terms of being captain, he’s made for it, there’s no doubt about that.

“We’ve got some real senior guys at the club. I could give anyone the captain’s armband; Craig Gordon or Mikael Lustig.

“But if you’re talking for the future once Brown’s time is up, which won’t be for a few years yet, then he’s made for it.

“Kieran doesn’t waste his time doing stupid things, he’s concentrated on his football, he lives his life to be a player, he’s not drinking, he trains like an animal every day and wherever you ask him to play he plays it to a high level. Tactically he’s improving all the time and he’s an absolute joy to work with.

“He would fit the mould of a captain, he’s certainly got the credentials.

“You have to be careful what age you give it to them but there’s no doubt he’s on that journey to one day lead the club.

“He took great pride in winning the Dafabet Cup against Sunderland, it means everything to him, to go into the huddle and say his speech.

“He’s one of those young guys that inspires through his performance.

“He feels a real energy and pride, he knows what it means to play for Celtic and put the armband on and follow captains of this great club.”

Absolutely effing incredible talent. To think we had left back problems for years, get Izzy, now KT. Worth the wait. Gonna be a star for years to come, and hopefully here. Murphio (I think) called it on the page or so before - Neville. Same drive and consistency.

Even better viewing his goal from behind Tierney, as that colossal pumpkin Broadfoot ducks slightly to make sure that shot goes all the way

Gary Neville.
Gary Neville didn't score goals.
And KT isn't a smug pumpkin.

I'm new. Be gentle.
I was thinking to myself yesterday during a morning shower, that the bold KT must regularly be thumping in absolute worldies in training, for how often he tries it from 30+yds in games and puts them into row Z.

And then he goes and does that...

I don't think that was a shot. He was actually trying to smash Kirk Broadfoot in the face.
Unfortunately somebody shouted 'ding' and broadfoot ducked.
