I might be misremembering it, but some of his best defensive moments were headed clearances that the CBs really should have been making. Not what I would expect from KT. At RB he looked quite one footed and was still using his left for nearly every first touch and pass so hopefully it was an emergency cover kinda thing and not something we plan to repeat when a fuller squad is available.

Credit to him though, that was a bloody good performance as a kid being played out of position in a must win game.
Going to get the Danny McGrain treatment then at international level, moved from his natural position to accommodate an inferior player.

I actually think Robertson is half decent and unfortunately we don't appear to have a capable RB for the national team atm.
Or maybe it's because he's the superior player that he's trusted to move out of his comfort zone and still put in a quality performance that guys like Robertson just couldn't?

A few on here were slaughtering Strachan for moving Kieran to right back, and he was proven correct in his judgement. Jardine was a fantastic right back but Danny was a class above. I think the difference back then was Scotland still had good options for left back with other players where as we have great full backs in Tierney and Robertson and nothing else.

I had to listen to the Radio commentary for part of the second half when picking up the wife, and Willie Miller was suggesting taking Kieran off to bring on Anya because he thought Kieran wasn't offering anything going forward. I actually thought that Kieran was told to stay back more to cover for Robertson bombing on, but hey, I thinks that why Miller never made it as a manager.

Miller's clueless. And Anya is garbage. Within a minute of coming on he'd missed an absolute sitter.

Considering retirement

For a young player playing out of position I thought he did very well last night. Didn't look comfortable on his right foot and wouldn't be in a hurry to see him moved to RB for Celtic but he can be proud of his performance.

I suppose if it does happen, and it gives him practice of playing at RB it gives us extra cover at club level but Scotland need to find a proper RB. Agree that Robertson's a decent enough player but you could see teams targeting our full backs if we play 2 quite short guys there in Tierney & Robertson.

I wonder on what basis Strachan chose Tierney to switch over rather than Robertson...
Id say the better more versatile player is asked to switch. :)

All in all it can only make Tierney a better player.

Would get into an u21 World XI any day of the week.

That's how good a talent we have.

We're so woefully short at RB that's it's understandable why Strachan would want his best two full backs on the pitch at the same time. Presumably he's discussed with both players & as others have said it's a tribute to KT that he was the one chosen to switch.

FWIW I thought both full backs were excellent, particularly in the last 10/15 minutes when we needed someone to drive us forward.

Looked very tired yesterday, wouldn't mind seeing him getting a couple of games off now that the title's wrapped up.

He looked really tired before he picked up his injury and the rest done him the world of good as he came back and was playing really well for a while. I think he's suffering from playing too many games for a boy his age considering the amount of ground he covers. In Izzy we have really good cover and I think we should be using KT more sparingly.

no he didn't. Also, he made a direct contribution to the first goal, and an assist for the third. Brown was, by miles, our worst player/passer on Sunday.

Can you back that up with the official stats from the game or is it your recollection?

Wrong. Tierney misplaced more passes than Brown.

I agree I defended Tierney in the match thread. He was decent enough but is in need of a rest. Brown was honking.

According to celticbynumbers; Tierney had the lowest pass completion rate of our whole team. However, I'm now unconvinced upon further reading as Brown is just no listed?
