Been under par, like so many, for a couple games now. Once the league is clinched can afford to give Izzy a wee run and give Tierney a wee break. A drop in form for him is well over due considering his age.

Not sure how I was hugely unfair to Izzy?
Sorry , I read " when we've got a more than adequate back up THAN Izzy" :brickwall:

I'm glad that was cleared up, I was well confused

I also think that part of the reason that KT gets a wee bit more criticism than Erik or Boyata etc. is that he has already shown that he can perform at a more impressive level, so for him to be 5/10 he has to fall further to get there. I don't think it has anything to do with being homegrown. There's been something of a defence of McGregor exactly because he's homegrown and can count towards the homegrown quota in CL squads so it'd seem contrary to use it as a stick to beat KT with.

I find it weird that there's Celtic fans who don't love KT.

I don't think it's anything to do with liking the lad, it's just that some posters/fans see beyond the all consuming love in that many have for him, and comment on him as a footballer rather than an Icon.
Tierney has all the potential to be a great player, maybe even a fantastic player, but he's got a long way to go. I hope he fulfills his potential at Celtic.
I think there's been plenty of rational and fair discussion about how he's doing as a player. I also think it's fairly apparent he's got a real chance of going to the very top.

What I find mental is folk listing games where he's been slightly below par throughout the season. He's 19. He's the absolute least of our worries.

He's achieved a level of consistency very rare in any young player in a position that especially in our formation is hugely demanding. He's had a poor run of games but it has coincided with a downturn in form from most of the team. He'll be back to his best soon enough but one or two will be sitting waiting for his next poor game.

Why would any Celtic fan want a Celtic player to play badly?

Armstrong and KT are a shining light on the talent pool in Scotland. More to come.

No Celtic fan would. But one or two on here might.

I don't think that's what's being inferred. It's more the case his critics will be waiting to let rip, if or when he has another poor game.

None will. But it's inevitable he will have terrible games and no matter how many good games he's had before it there are folk who will jump on it. It happens with every player not just KT

I didn't say they did.

Some folk will definitely have players they don't rate though and will be quicker to criticise those players (i'm the same with some) and just posting "I'm not saying he's a bad player" at the start every post isn't a get out ;)

Even excellent players, and he's one, will have off days or get weary. We're exceptionally lucky to have Izzy as an option if the manager thinks KT needs a rest.

Sorry if this offends the natives, but Emilio is a much more composed player on the ball, which is what we need in the bigger games.

Pity he's completely useless off the ball defensively. The amount of times he gets caught out of position or is passed with ease by his opponent is ridiculous. I don't know what you mean by 'bigger games' but surely the first priority is to concede as little goals as possible in ANY game. Putting Izzy back in the team would be mental.

Sorry cannot agree, really like the wee man but his crosses and positional sense at times is a nightmare and has cost us several times. KT might not be playing to his usual standards but he is the answer at left back.
