I'm starting to think that we might not need to sign a midfielder in January now. He has improved unbelievably and looks like he can get even better, love watching him right now :rocker:
I think we have to continually look to improve, regardless of how good we get, on that basis I still think we need a midfielder. Our first 11 is good right now, including Armstrong, but beyond that we have guys like Bitton etc who should be shifted on, if Armstrong can keep his place then great, if not then the new guy will obviously be an improvement.
Agreed. Were McCarthy to become available he'd give you an option to play alongside Brown for dig in bigger games as well be a potential long term replacement for him. It remains to be seen if Armstrong can impose himself like that against much stronger opponents.

I've always thought him a right good player - but I think he lacked courage, and without that you can't be Celtic quality.

I think he's found his courage. Easily his best game in the hoops.

Imperious yesterday.

Very intelligent and underrated player. He has the attitude if he loses the ball, to go get it back right away which is great to see. With a bit of confidence and improvement on his distribution, he could become the complete midfielder.

What a performance, just had a feeling he would get on the scoresheet, he was immense yesterday, and after his winner at Killie, good to see he is popping up with vital goals :chuffed:
I see him as a more technically gifted player than brown. Brown is limited in passing range and first touch isn't always up to it. If Armstrong can take his natural ability and more consistently add Brown's intensity and aggression, he will be a better player that Brown has been to us.

I should mention, I have grown to admire and appreciate what Brown offers to the team.

I'm another who wrote him off, hated the way he was always on corners and free kicks around the box, yet every time just floated them in with no pace on the ball, delighted he may be proving me wrong.

That's a big part of the difference between him and Bitton.

Ronny was playing him painfully out of position for much of his tenure, he struggled and think his confidence was low as a result. That's when the performances slip. All of the above is now not true and he's showing himself to be a top Scottish midfielder. He's also clever in front of goal as his finishing this season shows. His stamina and work rate are absolutely immense.

Another player on the list of those who've really found their feet again under Rodgers after periods in decline, and long may the trend continue. One of the hallmarks of a top manager.

His work rate is phenomenal. He seems to thrive on confidence too and the faith shown in him by the manager.

Yet another player transformed by this Manager - Amazing what a Real Manager can do.

Didn't think Armstrong had that level of performance in him even at his best but he was outstanding as Murphio says - Best I have ever seen Armstrong play. :worthy:

Thought he had his most driven performance in the jersey yet :)
Especially pleasing as I felt he underperformed at Hampden.
If he can kick-on from this, he could go on to have a real influential impact in this side

Looks a player now, his movement off the ball yesterday was first class. And that was anything but an easy chance for the 2nd equaliser

Great game yesterday. Had more good games than bad ones this year. Passing still a bit too erratic for my liking but his energy and tenacity is certainly bringing something to us in the middle .
This could be so many descriptions of Brown on KDS over the years
If he can improve his passing to Brown's current levels he will be some fecking player for us
Now that's a turn of phrase that not many people would have been saying before this season

He doesn't get the credit he deserves on here. Been superb all season. BR is really getting the best out of him.
False, false, very true.
In what sense? Even when he scored the winning goal at Kilmarnock he was being slated in the match thread on here. There have been many improved performances this season, but I feel it's Armstrong where the manager's influence is being seen most.

His first touch for the goal is absolutely wonderful. The ball is magnificent but it needed a great first touch to give him even the chance for the finish.

As was the run he made for it and the through ball from Roberts - It was a great goal.

Rodgers will still sign at least one midfield player - I think Bitton will be away albeit he might not be away in January.

Liked him and thought he would be the better signing when we bought him and GMS but he looked liked he'd lost his way a wee bit
Been vastly improved over his latest run and is starting to look like the player we thought he could be
Actually though his goal was the best of the bunch on Saturday. I know McGregor's was a cracker and Rogic's was a beauty and that feeling when you come back to win a game is hard to beat but I thought Armstrong's was a difficult finish and his touch was superb

The difference it make just having someone running about a bit is incredible.

He's got quite good pace, excellent stamina and is becoming better at judging where and when to run as well. Excellent at anticipating the second ball and obviously capable of getting in the box and scoring goals.

I still think that in the long term, he really should be looked at as a valuable squad player rather than a starter.

Crikey you have high standards! Don't know about the long term but at the moment he should be an automatic starter.

It's great to see him finally living up to his potential. Last season he looked to hide and couldn't get rid of the ball quick enough, this season he has looked far more dynamic and is always looking to get involved. Hopefully he can keep it up as he looks like a top player on current form.
