The Anthony Stokes of our midfielders. Spectacular moments overshadow a fairly mediocre player. One of the most frustrating aspects about him is his inconsistent touch. He can controll it instantly at times under difficult circumstances and at others the ball just bounces off him like shrapnell.

Perhabs a sign that he lacks concentration in crucial moments or that he's easily put under pressure.
Mediocre is harsh

If he cuts out his 3 or 4 missed passes every game he will be excellent. With some more training and coaching he will get there as these generally tend to be easy passes. Like many this year he is vastly improved under Brendan

I never understand that - he's a professional footballer who played for a senior (albeit Scottish) team before Celtic, and yet he needs coaching on how to pass a ball?

On Wednesday he was that woman or bloke at your work always rushing around with a piece of paper/screwdriver always looking really busy but no one has a clue what he/she actually does.

That is the sad state of Scottish football. I thought last season Armstrong's control was poor when stuck out on the wing.

He doesn't pass the ball consistently well, he doesn't controll the ball consistently well and he doesn't win the ball consistently well. He is decent at each of those aspects though.

That, for me, is the definition of mediocre. Sprinkled with a few spectacular moments.

He's a good player but not good enough. Bit of a waste having Brown sit while he goes forward.

Has energy, drive and confidence but we could and will sign better.

Always seems to be busting a gut to win the ball - after he has originally lost it... Needs to cut out the mistakes some simple passes just go straight to the opposition.

Gave away possession far too easily today again. Looks busy though, which probably gets him off the hook for some people. Needs to improve if he wants a place in that midfield 3. He's just lucky, theres only a piss poor Biton to replace him in there.

Still don't know what to make of him.

Very good moments in every game but weak as a kitten and careless in possession at times.

Far better than last year but can't see him in the starting 11 if Brendan gets the men he wants in the transfer window.

Misses chances and misplaces passes but no doubt he's improved and looks a lot more confident.
