One of our worst performers last night. I'd be happy to see Bitton back in the team at his expense tbh.

His first instinct when he gets the ball is to see who is available behind him.

We won't get anywhere with him and McGregor in midfield, constantly looking for the safe pass.

He was full of energy, got involved and chased and harried. Sadly he gave away the possession too much and a lot of the time was chasing to make amends of his own mistake.

I like the fact he gets beyond the strikers, but his use of the ball is so poor. Work to be done, but a player in there...

That's one thing I really don't think he could be accused of.

Absolute nonsense.

He was one of our most forward-going players last night. He routinely brought the ball forward out of defence.

There's plenty of valid criticisms to throw at Armstrong without making stuff up as well.

what a pass to play in Messi. :twitch:

Stuart Armstrong is decent, but seems to lack self-belief. He could be coached as he has the ability to learn, but I think he will always lack the ruthless streak needed to be a top pro. In an ideal world, he'll be a very capable "impact sub" next season.

He does my tits in when rather than clean a player out he tries to poke it through their legs and loses it in dangerous areas.

I think this might have happened in the build up to the penalty. I'm sure he had a chance to empty the ball and one of their players on the edge of our area and he tried to stab it through the legs and lost the ball which eventually ended up on the other side which led to the penalty.

it might have been another passage of play but almost sure it was this that led to the penalty.

Ran about a lot, gave the ball away far too often. We need better.
Sums it up for me. He is a decent enough squad player for The SPFL and maybe 20-30 mins in Europe. If we want to progress, Armstrong & McGregor should not be starting.

Agreed, but the reality is at the moment they are options until next season most likely.

I'd start Armstrong over Bitton.

Great workrate last night but too sloppy in possession. If we could combine his energy with Rogic's creativity we'd have a player but as it is, he's not really laying down a marker as someone who has made a position their own. Seems also to lack Brown's ability to turn out of a tight space and find a team-mate, but then again, so do most of the team.

Has he ever played DM alongside Brown or is the feeling that he only fits into one of the 3 behind Dembele?

He has potential but his touch let him down a few times last night. Against the best you;ll get punished. He put in a load of effort and covered loads of ground though. A useful player but Europe at this level is currently a little beyond huim.

Armstrong last season did it all the time. Got the ball and it was immediately back to a full back whilst he hid.

Last night he did the opposite and on occasion he actually held the ball too long and tried to do too much with it. It was a shame his final ball wasn't up to the rest of his performance.

He's come on a lot recently so fair play to him.

I would rather have him than bitton any day. Armstrong gets about a lot more than bitton and he has more pace.

Thought he actually played well in some parts last night.

His first touch is shambolic most of the time and often what puts him in trouble.

His first touch is very strange, it's as if the ball is trapped slightly behind and under his body, meaning he almost has to drag it out from a back foot position every time he has to run / dribble with the ball.

Not sure if that description makes sense, but that's how i see it.

We're in transition, he's raised his game and puts a shift in. Cruel but he'll do until Rodgers buys someone better. Either this window or the next he'll be a squad player again but a better option of the bench or to start a dozen or so games that he ever looked like he could be.

It doesn't but I know exactly what you mean. I think he tries to knock it forward into space but gets it stuck under his feet.

Counted at least 4 terrible passes last night that put us under pressure.
