Did he have a good game last night?

I see a lot of people having him in their top 3 but others in the match thread and also other threads having a pop at him?
He played with a lot of enthusiasm and heart.

There's a real danger of him being asked to be in a Scotland squad.

Ran about a lot, gave the ball away far too often. We need better.

Showed a lot of energy but was pretty poor in possession. Maybe a long term replacement for Brown but unless one of them improves a lot then them playing together at this level is going to be very frustrating.

I thought he did pretty well last night. He's getting himself involved in games now, which is an enormous change from last season. Needs to cut out the slackness though.

Worked his socks off all night. Few slack passes but overall I was happy with how he played.
He's a liability with plenty of hard graft

Considering the start of this season and broad parts of the last one, Armstrong is possibly the biggest positive surprise so far. I´m curious to see what his buddy (GMS) can do whenever he´s be back in the squad.

GMS won't ever be near the squad again

He will learn a lot this season but will be replaced by a higher standard of player I suspect - same for McGregor

He'll do well at league level and can be decent back up for CL no doubt

Seems to be showing a lot more desire and willingness to take the ball these days. He loses the ball at bit too much a the moment, but I feel he'll get better at this as he gets more game time working to Brendan's system.

Great tracking back to win the ball back from Messi after that slack pass in the second half. The good and the bad inside 10 seconds.

The same was said about Forrest and Armstrong (and Bitton, McGregor, etc.). A couple of injuries is all what it takes. He´s still a young man and I´m sure he´ll be given his chances.

So confident that, at one time, he gave a 3 yard pass straight to the best attacker in the world Lionel Messi deep in our own half, as if to say 'see what you can do with that ye wee bearded sh@te'. And he was right, Messi nearly managed to get past our last defender to score but just missed out, and Stuarty pinned him with a lingering look and the confidence drained from the growth hormone one....

Apart from that and a few other inexplicable passes to the opposition he was a bundle of energy and still preferable to the statuesque Bitton.

His energy, workrate and football intelligence are all excellent. His first touch is actually pretty decent as well.

That said, I'd really like to stick him in one of those Footbonaut things until he can find his man as regularly as Brown...

That said he has got better than he was unlike others

Admittedly his final pass is as likely to create for other team as us

A bit like another post re rogic at this level he is not bad at coming on after 60 or so

I'd be happy with him and rogic on bench and mcgregor in stand on cl nights

Which just leaves us where we were with a midfield to find

Gives the ball away too much to play deep. If he was playing in the Rogic position he could get away with it a bit more as he'd have 2 midfielders behind him to mop up.

Lack composure on the ball but so did Brown and he's improved.Hopefully he can add that to his strengths.

A player that is just short of being a very good footballer . It showed last night , he is capable of beating a player, even two players , but he just lacks that instinct of when and where to release. A few times last night he dragged two players on to himself , but then his release was the wrong decision . I thin this will improve with the right sort of coaching. We have seen him really develop in the last few months , if he keeps learning at this pace , I think we have a real player on our hands. However I do suspect this is a position that Brendan will want to bolster.

He's decent enough in your domestic outings, but even at that, better as a squad player.

Even against Kilmarnock, he was giving the ball away at times, and he continued that last night. Tbf, no end of effort from him last night, and tried getting some passing moves going at times, but ultimately we need better than him in the middle of the park on these big European nights.

Struggled to pass it accurately under pressure, a few of his team mates managed this better but I think he was trying the harder passes sometimes.

You can see improvements in his game and confidence under Brendan but he needs to lose the slackness at this level very quickly. Like others I`m not convinced he`ll keep any new midfield signings out the team but he is trying to improve.
