Needs more time and chances to play at this level. He's a clever boy and will improve.
As much as I was slagging him on the last page, I agree with this.

He hasn't played at this level before and it's not an easy jump to make.

Didn't think he was as bad as some people are making out. Thought he was average for most of the first half but then had a pretty good middle period and a decent ending. Ran himself into the ground a times, chasing the ball down, down most of Rogics running when he was on the pitch and still managed to get ahead of Rogic at a couple of chances.

Bit of a box to box man, yet I dont think he knows himself what type of player he is supposed to be. Hopefully Brendan can mold that into him, there's a real player there.

Didn't think he was too bad. There's definitely been improvement from him. Would usually have hid in a match like this, but never shied away from the ball and gave plenty of running.

He's up against better quality players in there, but thought he played alright tonight.

Wasn't perfect tonight, but didn't hide, showed bravery on the ball and tracked back well. All in, I thought he made our midfield look a lot more dynamic than if we'd opted for Bitton. While he may be technically superior, Armstrong's drive and movement helped the side a lot more tonight.

I'm still not convinced. Better than Bitton but I'll be amazed if we don't have a new CM by about the 5th of January.

Thought he did ok, should look to Brown on how to go about nights like this.

He deserves his run in the team, needs someone who isn't Nir Bitton or Calum McGregor to challenge him for his place though.

Well out of his depth at this level. Good enough for domestic games, isn't the standard we need for games like tonight though.

Gave it away with sloppy passing/play on several occasions which lead to a break and what could quite easily have been a few more goals against a better team. I want Armstrong to do well but I just don't think he has it personally. His head seems to go down after a mistake or two and I very much see him as a confidence player so it's no good for a team like Celtic. Hope I'm proven wrong.

Thought he was the weak link tonight and his passing held the team back a few times. Really want to see him do well. Much better second half.

He shows competency in flashes but he's very complacent in performance. Brendan talked about first maximising what's there in the squad post match. He's determined to get the best out of Armstrong and he's certainly showed an improvement in his performances over the past month. Can't fault his desire tonight and I was pleased to see his hunger and determination when he tracked back his loose pass and won back possession with a crunching tackle in our half. I'd like to think Brendan can round him off into a consistent performer over the 90 minutes but I think we'll need to go back into the market come the next window or two to get the quality we need.

This. Looked to have the wrong studs in during the first half and slipped a few times. But always showed for the ball and looked to drive forward. Also worked hard tracking back. We should always be looking to strengthen and centre midfield is probably the priority, but I don't think he looked out of place tonight.

I thought he put in a good shift. I like his willingness to drive forward but ultimately I feel he surrenders possession too cheaply. If he can improve this area of his game he could have a future at this level.

He did some brilliant things offensively and some terrible things defensively. Not writing him off yet but he's still short at this level.

I thought he did very well. He is just breaking through at this level and He should be proud of himself. I hope he continues to improve.

He put in a real shift and he stepped up and demanded the ball.

However his passing at times was horrific.

Again though he will need time to get up to speed at this level.

He should keep his place in the team.

Worked really hard and did some good stuff, but lacks a bit when it comes to passing and ball retention at this level. Seemed to be lack composure at times when he had made a positive move forward, confidence and comfort might be an issue at CL level and hopefully will improve with good coaching.

As most have said, he showed he had a great engine and willingness to bomb around the park, giving their players no peace. All the hallmarks of a box to box midfielder in the Petrov mould. However, he was wasteful with his passing and a few times it led to some chance for them. Like most of the team, he doesn't have experience at this level and needs this to develop. I still think he lacks a bit of steel in him but perhaps his energy can make up for that.

Worked hard, ran about a lot and continually gave the ball away.

In short, a Scotland player.
