I'd rather see Henderson or Christie play. Armstrong's been a decent player, very good at a time but we've better options. I'd sell him.

He's not got "it". And "it" is somewhere between ability and dig, but is neither. Was excited when he came, but he just isn't a Celtic player.

I'd say the fact that Brendan gave him so many starts up 'til now probably means that he's
showing a bit of ability day in day out at Lennoxtown but its at the weekend he has to produce and I think he's
thrown away what was a great chance to establish himself in the team.

Based on that there may be a way back for him but it'll be a hard road now the way others have stepped up!

Armstrong looking like he's dropped way off the radar.
Another one, who needs to go to find gametime - as Brendan likes to put it?

Started at Hearts, replaced by Sinclair who scored.
Unused sub for Motherwell, Sinclair starts & scores.
Plays the whole game against Inter, along with Henderson, Christie & other Fringe players.
Dropped for HBS, both Henderson & Christie are on the bench.
Dropped for St Johnston, both Henderson & Christie come off the bench. Christie scores, Henderson gives away a penalty.

Looks like he's dropped waaay down in the pecking order. Christie looks better & Henderson has more energy & dig.

I always thought he was a placeholder for the manager who was only playing until Sinclair inevitably arrived. Brendan probably thought he was the best option in that position at the time, but the fact that he made it a priority and spent very good money on a transfer fee and wages shows what he thought of the talent there compared to the other positions. I'm not saying that Sinclair's availability and willingness to sign weren't a factor, but if it wasn't him it would have been someone else.

x 3.

Disappointed at him in terms of how he has progressed. Pish so far and had a right few games now to flourish. Get rid asa if buyer is there.. Back up for injuries or suspension at best now.

Stuart Armstrong is the midfield version of Teemu Pukki, you know he's got ability but he just hasn't got the mental strength to deal with the pressure of playing for Celtic.

He's a player, just not with us.

Think he's got a case of the Maloney's where he'll achieve great things while not being a Celtic player but they'll never quite live up to being a Celtic player.

Maloney was a really good player for us. He scored a goal every 4 games compared to Armstrong's 1 every 8, when Scottish football was stronger and before Rangers were deid. Maloney had major injury problems that hampered him but was a far better player than Armstrong. Good luck to him when he goes elsewhere but I don't think Armstrong has the ability to change games the way Maloney could.
