Been a good move all round. If it is an initial £7m plus add ons as reported, for a player with 12 months left it's a no brainer.

What I like about Lawwell and Rodgers is that they are not in the business of letting anyone in his bracket go cheaply, one year left or not. We were never going to have multi years left with Armstrong, because he never wanted a multi year contract at any point.

£5.4m worth of profit minus 10% to Dundee United means he has more than paid for himself.

If McGinn is his likely replacement he has a similar number of games and goals under his belt by the same age. SA: 149/21 v JMc: 132/16, and if anything McGinn does not play as far forward.

He is also sat just now with more Scotland caps despite being three years younger. Not that it is a great barometer of anything.

All the best for the future.

Can’t understand the bitterness towards Armstrong on here. He fulfilled his contract, played well, now he wants to move on. Good luck to him. We’ve made a decent profit on the deal, and he will be adequately replaced. What’s not to like?
Let's hope the last bit is right but otherwise I agree.

He never gave off the impression of someone who saw himself as being here long term. Disappointed to lose him as -on form - he’s a prolific goal threat from midfield, which isn’t easy to replace. That said, the money on offer is too good to turn down given his contractual position.

Think he’s smart enough to probably do quite well down there.
Armstrong over the piece wasn’t as good a player as Stefan Johansen. He left and there was minimal fuss made. McGregor easily takes Armstrong’s place. Christie / Henderson may even improve on him.
Bahahahaha. "Special" bhoy indeed.

Thanks for the memories Stu.

Not talked about as much as Rogic's winner but his strike against the sheep to equalise in the cup final two minutes after they scored was so important and a thing of beauty.

Best a luck.

Be interesting to see how he gets on down there. Gave us a glimpse of his capabilities, but over the piece we didn't see it enough.

Can't see any confirmation from usual channels, but only a matter of time.

No major loss, and a cracking deal for Celtic. Hopefully we invest wisely.

You'll always be a Celt, an invincible double treble winning one. :potm: :potm: :potm: :potm: :potm: :potm:

Good business for the club now let's reinvest it in a quality first team player

Edit: my grammar

Good luck to the lad, will go down in history of playing a vital role in our double treble.

Will keep an eye on him at Southampton, hopefully he goes on and improves and we have another sell on clause.

Oh words cant describe, when I see him in the green and white :Bye:

Great transfer fee. Sad to see him go a player I always liked but time was right for him and us.

An inform and fit Armstrong would have been in my team however that was few and far between and because of this and the fact we’ve got a lot of midfielders I would imagine he wasn’t offered top dollar by us and was quite right to look elsewhere.A player I would have been happy to keep but not too big a miss.Good luck to him.

Has been clear for a while that he fancied the chance to test himself down south and I think he's well entitled to that.

He's scored some great goals for us, been an excellent member of the team/squad and has now earned us a decent fee.

Best of luck to the guy.

Use some of the money from this and freed up wages for a replacement better than he was when he arrived and this has been the perfect play for a player with his limitations.

Good luck Stuart.

Seems a decent bloke but won't lose too much sleep over his transfer, especially when the fee is good one.
