If he is receiving anything I doubt it's because people feel he's an upright chap and no mistake. Anything he receives will be due under a valid contact and this is his proper benefit.
You don’t know then. Ok.
When you start a comment with the word "if" it's a common indication that there may be some lack of certainty around the situation. The early comments seemed to infer that he would be due a percentage. IF that is correct then it would suggest it his entitlement.

He's slow to agree terms eh?

Probably trying to keep it to a 3 year deal

You were the one who mentioned his “proper benefit” earlier. Now you’re saying you don’t know what it is.

"Juneau, what was Jackie McNamara’s percentage of the sell on fee?" A reasonable inference from that is that he might be due something? By no means certain however, hence my preference to begin my comment with the word "if".

I'm not sure what your problem is here.

Disappointed he is going as he is a good player to have in the squad but if we end up north of £5m we should and will take it.

He wasn't an automatic first pick; and he will be on higher wages than someone in the development squad who might be ready to step up for 15-20 minutes of first team action.

Good deal for everyone I reckon: he gets the shot at the EPL he's been after since he arrived and the wages that comes with it; we get the vast majority of Eduard's transfer fee covered in the sale of one player who was on the fringes of the first team last season; Southampton get a player who fits the bill for what they need (dynamic box to box players) without a big outlay by their standards.

I have no ill feeling toward him whatsoever and wish him the best of luck. He was an integral part of one of the most historic seasons in this club's history and we get £7m+ in the last year of his contract.

Win win win.

It is certainly a win, but what about the money from two successive CL campaigns and the VVD sell-on? They more than cover the Edouard fee, and his wages for the rest of his time at us.

The money from Armstrong and the wages saved from his sale, and Musonda and Roberts going away, need to be invested in players who make us better in Europe. If we don't manage that it's negligence.

I'm not going full eff Liewwell, but we should be buying three Ntcham-level players this summer, at least two of whom should be defenders.

It would be stupid to turn down 7M for Armstrong, he obviously wants to go so good luck to him. Hope he agrees terms quickly so we have the opportunity to factor this cash into our own transfer dealings.

He never gave off the impression of someone who saw himself as being here long term. Disappointed to lose him as -on form - he’s a prolific goal threat from midfield, which isn’t easy to replace. That said, the money on offer is too good to turn down given his contractual position.

Think he’s smart enough to probably do quite well down there.

Armstrong over the piece wasn’t as good a player as Stefan Johansen. He left and there was minimal fuss made. McGregor easily takes Armstrong’s place. Christie / Henderson may even improve on him.

Last season’s Armstrong is no loss. The previous season’s Armstrong is a big loss. We’ll never know what we’re losing but probably something in between.

Unless Armstrong is tearing up the EPL we'll soon have forgotten him. Seemed like a nice lad so I wish him well.

Speaking to someone there who knows his agent and was told that Stuart, his agent and Ricky (Sorry can't remember the second name) are on their way down right now to tie up the deal. His words were that he's played 8 years in Scotland playing at the same grounds against the same players and wants to test himself against better players.
Good luck to him.

I know a Dundee United fan who knows the Thomspon family.

He told me at the time we signed Armstrong that he was desperate for a move down south and I think he said Burnely (not 100% sure) were close to making a bid and he held off signing for us until the last moment of the transfer windown because he realised that no clubs down south were going to take him.

We signed GMS on a 4 year deal but Armstrong refused to sign a 4 year deal and only took 3 years as he wanted to go down south within that time. We just managed to squeeze an extra year out him by paying him a much better wage, but he had made his mind up a long time ago that he wanted to play in England. Good luck to him, overall he has been a good signing and we are getting a good fee.

I think when you consider the market down south paid 22 million for James Maddison then we are being short changed again for one of our top talents imo regardless of having a year left or not.

In the interests of balance, we also played against this lot in his time here.

1. Inter Milan
2. Molde
3. Fenerbahce
4. Ajax
5. Qarabag
6. Malmo
7. Beer Sheva
8. Man City
9. Barcelona
10. Borussia Moenchengladbach
11. Rosenborg
12. Astana
13. PSG
14. Bayern Munich
15. Anderlecht
16. Zenit St Petersburg

Bit more interesting than playing for a draw at Burnley to stay in 16th place, barely crossing the halfway line in Mark Hughes' rigid 4-5-1. His agent would do well to see who the likely candidate is to take over from Hughes when he is inevitably sacked before Christmas. They might not take much of a shine to him.

He could have played against our first 11 in training this season.
Another who thinks he is better than he is.
Will never win another medal and probably struggle to add many Scotland caps as he warms Southampton bench hoping ward-prowse gets injured
