Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Did Petrov not sign a longer deal though which covered both his and Celtic's interests with the security? Armstrong's 12 month extension just caused uncertaintity.
Aye, but as with Armstrong no-one was under the impression that he would actually stay.

I don’t think Armstrong was a particularly great player, but some of the abuse he’s getting does seem very personal. Sutton in particular has an effin brass neck. If Armstrong had shat the bed at Ibrox, downed tools and tried to get himself sent off, then I might take Sutton’s opinion seriously.
You're certainly giving his opinion some thought, why even consider it if you don't take it seriously? Why mention a solitary Ibrox performance when over the piece he was a great player for us? Sutton turned up in far bigger games than Stuart let us down in.

Wasn’t a big fan. His passing wasn’t good enough, particularly in the big games, to be a central midfielder. He can run though so will probably do well enough down there. Great price for him. All the best Stuart. Thanks for bringing my 5-1 bet home.
Exactly how I feel

We need to freshen the squad and players will leave. Armstrong wanted to move on and make more money in England which is his right. He has attributes but wasn’t a mainstay for us. He’ll most likely never play for a big club again but will make a lot of money.

Good luck to him.

£7m is pocket change for an EPL team but that’s a great bit of business for us considering Armstrong was a bit part player last season and could go and sign a bosman in 6 months time. Take that money and go buy a central defender.

A good player who had an exceptional season. We won't miss him and I doubt he will survive in the premiership

I liked him but don't think we'll miss him a great deal. He was handy to have as a squad player.
All the best Stuart.

Good player on his day which wasn't often enough. Will probably do well down there. Quite a lot of average players play for decent sized clubs and cost a few bob, much more than we can or would pay. Wouldn't be surprised if his next move is for about 12-15million.

If we're getting 7m in one go it's more than we've spent on just about any player in our history. If he was moving the other way for that money I'd be amazed.

Seemed to lose his swagger after Ajer beat him in that pre-season quiz. At least now my da can stop telling me that he's colour blind.

Thought there were times we missed his running last season. But he came in, did his job and moves on. Getting £7m for him is great business. Good luck to him.

Good player who is struggling to displace guys now playing well. £7 million, if correct, highlights the influence of BR being here. Under NL or RD, we'd have done well to get £3m for him.

Scored a few good goals, some against Sevco, too. My fav is his equaliser a minute after Hayes put Aberdeen ahead in 2017 SCF. Left foot as well.

Armstrong is joining Crosas as a bad return on fees and wages for the club yet some people just can't get enough of him. :ponder:

Being really good, which Armstrong can be, and being pish for most of the time is way worse than being an average player who as average most of the time.

Aye but, scored a few good goals, but would be fighting for a permanent starting place next season with Ntcham ahead of him.

It was noticeable that we wasn't in any of the most recent new kit adverts, I sometimes think BR is consulted by the marketing dept. regarding who will front these campaigns, as you don't want an ex-Celtic player touting Celtic replikits.

So, Armstrong out for £7m.
McGinn in for £2m + Scott Allan.
Possibly send out Eboue on loan, or sell to one of the French clubs for about £5m.

I'd say, we're looking to trim the squad down to what Brendan likes to work with & we could see his revolving door.

I'd be happy to see Armstrong/Allan out & McGinn in with £5m in the bank.
McGinn has been spoken of in direct quotes from the Club in fairly glowing terms, he's an absolute Tim & would add to KT, Broony, CalMac, Forrest in that mentality - even though Armstrong is Scottish, he was never going to run through walls for Celtic.

Happy for the guy, as this is how he is & he's got his plan - good luck to him.
More happy to have McGinn + £5m :)

Rogic, Edouard & Ajer just signed up long contracts, looks like we're quietly putting things in place to secure 10IAR. Clear out the rest of the deadwood & guys who want to move on (Jozo, Boyata?) bring in quality 3 players or so.

I think Morgan will surprise a few & really push for his spot - we've a LOT of Scottish players now, which is something else Brendan wants.
