I’d be raging if my rivals sold one if their average players for a fee which is greater than the value of my entire squad.
 mind the gap ye carrots

He`ll probably go down on my list of frustrating players.Could really turn it on at times but never often enough or in big enough games to make him linger long in the memory.

Well short at european level and seemed to throw the towel in quicker than most when we struggled.

He does have gift for making ghosting, surging runs and scored some fine goals in his time here and he is a genuinely nice bloke, wish him well and hope he has a good career down south.

7 million. Ok deal.

No , no , no :comp: he's not worth that.

Eh? I would bite your hand off for £7m. We are not getting that.

We are. Give or take a mill either side.

Either way we're making more cash. So Armstrong paid for Eddy. Who'd have thought it , that's quite a decent bit of business.

With the Sky money they are getting, £7M is feckin buttons. Grealish is being quoted at £20M plus and he has proved eff all so far. It's about time that we get the going rate for our players who take the Queen's shilling.

Last year of his deal, £7m is an outstanding offer that we're lucky to get

Before Rodgers we were selling our best players for around £7M.

Now we are selling a sub for that price. Another indication of the progress we have made over the last two years.

Armstrong is worth around £10m in the inflated EPL market.

Celtic should be asking for that given that he is going to pocket some of his transfer fee.

We don't really have another player in the squad who breaks the lines the way Armstrong does.

He'll be missed. £7million is a snip for Southampton, who have profited from us before.

Won't be easy to replace.

If our annual sacrifice to Southampton has been reduced from key players such as Victor, Fraser and Virgil onto Stuart, and it means we keep guys you'd pick before him anyway for a bit longer then it's okay by me. I certainly don't feel low as I did when the other three departed.

Saying that I think he can still improve to a high level and hope does well, Stu just hasn't offered enough consistency over the piece.

7 million for Armstrong is too good to refuse for a player who has proved inconsistent.
Could also set a precedent when setting prices for our players who are actually really good

:ponder: Are you mixing Southampton and Portsmouth, one of them is where good Celtic players go (except this time) and the other one is full of Sailors taking the Queens shilling.

Insert Seamen joke

The worry is that this deal will probably signify the end of the trust relationship Southampton have for us, and we'll need to go looking for another English club to give us a big transfer fee each summer.

Armstrong is a decent player, and sometimes better than decent. But I think many of us, not just Beermonkey, have been pleasantly surprised, maybe even astonished at the fee that's been reported, for a player with a year left on his contract, and who is coming off a rather mediocre season compared to the standard he set in in the previous one. But that's the football market nowadays, so let's not complain. Good bit of business by PL,
