Would be mental to leave. Like most of this side is not going to play under a better manager for a bigger supported side.
I get the impression he wants to make money in England and then he's set for life
How much is relative. I reckon he's set up as it is.
I hope he moves on, as his sights seem elsewhere in any case.
By the terms of most other people he is and will be set up if he stays with Celtic. Shoild be see out his career with us I reckon he would be making at least five million after tax. That's a bloody good lifestyle for the rest of his life. Also he would be well placed for a media or football management type motion Scotland. And even more importantly he would have a great football career.
On the other hand he could take even bigger money in England for a few years and his career will disappear as he won't succeed at a crystal palace.

I know what I think I would do.

If he goes we have to be asking for far more than £4million no matter his contract situation. Those days are gone and can't be allowed to return.
A few interested suitors at starting price. Probably £6m final.
Absolutely no chance.

Teams in England operate on a totally different stratosphere compared to us in money terms.
I don't think a couple of million pounds is going to stop a premiership team getting who they want.

Crystal Palace have still to file their accounts for the 2017 season.

Their ground is shampooe too.

Tail end of last season he was back to his old self, he'll be a big asset should he sign on again.

While it might be slim, it's hardly no chance.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Absolutely no chance.

He’ll be on about 15k a week with a year to go. It’ll be a Johansen type fee imo. £2.5m, £3m max.

Don't think we'd sell for that.

This is now becoming a regular occurrence. I would prefer him to stay as, when he's good, he's really good. However, if he's not happy then I would let him go as we only want guys who are up for the cause

He may not win trophies with a pish to mediocre club in the EPL....but he would be testing himself against a better class of opposition week in week out.

Yes, we can offer CL football with 6 to 8 games against top class opposition in a good season.....but down there he'll have 10 or more games against CL quality teams every season.

We offer a lot to players in terms of the chance to win trophies, take part in the CL and have the adulation (and occasionally contempt) of a huge support....but those aren't the only motivating factors for players. Even putting the money aside the lure of playing in one of Europe's top leagues (even if it's for relegation strugglers) and facing top quality opposition regularly outweighs everything we can offer for many players.

He’s been here 3 and a half years and has had a really good 6 months during that time.

He’s not in our strongest 11 and if he wants to go sit on someone else’s bench at double the money then good luck to him.

You might be right but we have to insist that English clubs pay fees that reflect their own market.

If Tom Cairney is being looked at for 15 million pound then Armstrong - who would play in front of him for Scotland - can't be sold for 2. See Grealish for the same point.

English clubs have the money and we need to avoid being seen as a club they can come to take players on the cheap if we ever want to progress.

His Celtic career has been 75% pish.

Could, might, should, every other post on the Armstrong thread. I'd sell him for £2M

Don't know what the ins and outs of his options were last summer but he made an arse of it. He should have either committed his future to the club or moved on at the time. Even then I don't believe it was the right time for him to move on since he'd only just finally found his feet here.

Instead he only signed a 1 year extension to prolong his shop window status and that meant he was never going to be a first team priority after that.

For a supposed intellectual he didn't half make a stupid decision.

100% Poor 2 and a half years, good 6 months in the Invincible season we all wanted him to stay and kick on, unfortunately it never happened.
