Anyway, back to Armstrong. If he wants to go South then so be it,off he goes. I would rather he stayed mind. I think he is a good player.

He's obviously missed a large portion of this season through injury, the only way he's going down south for good money in the summer is if he hits above top form before the summer

Given he only signed a one year extension last year it looks very much like he sees his future in England. Not we’re in a deja vu situation but this time the club will probably move him on if he’s not willing to commit. We will lose some players in the summer and I won’t be surprised if Armstrong along with Sinclair are for the off.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
West Ham tried to pay £15m for Tom Cairney in January. That's the same Tom Cairney who probably had one of the worst displays of any Scotland player in recent years on Friday night. Completely hopeless, yet apparently the "standard" of a good high end Championship midfield player destined for the Premier League. Even one that has massive flaws in his game and will not take an ounce of responsibility when the going gets tough.

I'm pretty sure Armstrong will be alright. He's actually got a brain, some positional sense and can pass the ball.
Passing and keeping possession are his biggest weaknesses. He excels in Scotland thanks to his athleticism and energy. Once that's equalled or bettered he's largely lost. He's turned in some pitiful performances in Europe.
Aye England at hampden howed that too.

Based on that game alone I assume Griffiths is worth more than Dele Alli then yeah? :ponder:

I said too. His performances in Europe have generally been poor. Particularly when it comes to ball retention.

Curious. In that game Armstrong got 90 minutes. Two of the players hooked were the established Premier League player James Morrison (after 45 mins) and the £10m valued Robert Snodgrass. I assume he was having a better game than either of those two. I also assume he was seen as a better bet to start the game than James McArthur, bought for £8m, who came on at half time.

Armstrong is inferior to none of these players. If he goes to down to England in the right circumstances he will show he is inferior to none of these players.

Our team performances in Europe have generally been poor. Largely because the team has been set up poorly. Picking out Armstrong, in either a Scotland performance where the entire team is up against it, or in a European game where a minimum of nine of our starting XI have failed to show up, is genuinely baffling.

Dunno how much I'd criticise his passing given that he typically tries to play something creative. Not necessarily always defence splitting but he's more likely to try a slightly risky forward pass than he is to exchange passes with our centre halves. No doubt that there's room for improvement etc. but I think his passing is OK.

This Armstrong playing full of confidence and running, is what we have been missing. Drove and drove at their defence and had their defence all over the place

Not his biggest fan but he's exactly what we've missed in these dour games v banks of four this season. He gives us another dimension and they have difficulty tracking him.

The difference between what him and Ntcham bring to the team is Armstrong is always wanting to get ahead of the play, gives us more but Ntcham is a better player. Hopefully the manager can get more of a threat out of Ollie.

Very good today.
