Better but not by much.
He was far better tonight than he has been.
That isn't saying much. He had some lovely passes but he's a lazy bastard.

Play like that as the average performance for him and we're talking.

He was better but still not hit the form of last year. At this point I want to see what Christie or Kouassi could do if/when they get a run.
Has Christie been recalled?

Agree. Wouldn't be bothered if we moved him on in January.

Yep. I thought men ghosted by him again and he takes an age to chase back.

My dad calls him "powderpuff" - can't think of a better way to describe it. Good player, but not good or consistent enough.

Yeah, signs of an improved performance last night but that ought to be the case as this is his level and you would expect something half-decent. It is the move to a higher level he struggles with.

Essentially that run of form last season saved him from the chop but it looks more like a stay of execution and he should probably be moved on now. We may as well have Henderson, Kouassi or Benyu in there for the SPFL games as at least they'd be getting game time and developing whereas SA has hit a plateau.

Last night was not signs of improvement for me. It was signs of a guy who knows he is comfortable against the likes of Hamilton and so plays how he should. He put Forrest through with a good pass yeah, but he misplaced many more. We need better than Armstrong in the centre of midfield

Hi passing isn't even the worst of the problems. He doesn't graft. He loses the ball then trots back, never stays switched-on when marking and can't even physically get his body in a challenege never mind complete it successfully. Credit where it's due, he had a really good season last year and last night played a lovely ball through to Forrest, but generally he's not good enough.

Just about everyone of them misplaced many passes.

Armstrong has just about turned the full circle. Ineffective wide left under Deila, greatly improved under BR who played him in his favoured centre mid role. For whatever reason, since his reluctance to sign a new longer term contract his form has dipped back to where he was before BR got him playing way better than ever before.

The bottom line as things stand is, he’s nowhere near good enough right now and surely won’t be a first choice player while this very poor level of form continues. Question is, can he get back to where he was a year or so ago? Maybe, but players who’s form fluctuates to this extent are not what we want or need.

Armstrong has had a few poor performances this season but his skill set remains vital. Less goals, yes, but is this mitigated in other areas? With thanks to @TheBackpassRule and @TheGersReport.

I think it's literally some people in a room counting, then they sell the data on to folk like Celtic By Numbers

The data I use is my own - I collect it myself from watching the game back. It is laborious but I have a lot of data!

The data that the Rangers Report and The Backpass Rule use is from a company called Strata. They give it to analysts for free providing they don't use it form commercial purposes and ensure they acknowledge the source. I have the Strata data also and will be using it to compliment my own proprietary data.

Hope that helps.
